I see a set of Roadhouse pipes on Ebay. Do those improve the sound???

Pulled the baffles out of mine and reset the power commander.
Runs great and sounds good.
Only really LOUD if you go wide open on the throttle.

I bought my 1500 the same time you did!
I found a black 2001 1500 here in Atlanta. It's in great shape with 29k miles.
The exhaust is really too quiet. Are long shots the only alternative? Roadhouse doesn't make theirs anymore- out of business.
The bike is awesome, but needs a more serious sound.

Wonderful looking bike Malcride, it's a twin to mine except for my saddlebars and Vance and Hines Longshots. You would be very wise to change the exhaust and get rid of that power-robbing goat bladder underneath the engine. I love the power I get from my Longshots and they sound GREAT! Be sure to polish them from time to time, I got a little lazy on mine and have a little rust I have to get off. I didn't have to change the fuel injection controller because I left the intake stock. Mine has been a little hard on tires. I never do burnouts and never ride double and check my air pressure every week but they still wear out quickly. I have had the stock Bridgestones that were on the bike when it was new, put on Avon Venoms and got about 7,500 miles before the rear was bald, then put on a Continental TK17 rear that my dealer had in stock. It has 3,400 miles on it and has only 3/32" of tread left. Next I'm going to try the new Michelin Commander II, have heard good things about it. Anyway, welcome to the forum and let us hear from you often with more pics of your mods.

Welcome to the forum,dude.I'm sure you'll find a bunch of tips,mods and most of all good times here.I get the notion your pretty handy in the motorcycle dept,if so please share some of your ideas and input to our mods/tips section.Chief,as well as others (myself included) would greatly aprecciate it.It's funny,every time I think I'm done with my Drifter there's something else that catches my eye...LOL....maybe I'll be done with my 800 when I purchase the 1500 one day.

Congrats and welcome aboard!  I bought a '99 last July and will probably always own a drifter.  I put on a Mustang seat and V&H longshot pipes.  Really like them both.

My disclaimer is that I said "pretty much done."  I had my 900 Classic LT "done" when I bought the Drifter and had to start over.  My wife became the lucky recipient of that one.

Hey everyone! I bought a 1999 drifter 1500 yesterday. I think I paid a little more than I should have but finding one of these bikes has been difficult. I bought from a dealer who I trust( there are some out there) we worked in a small warranty and storage until spring. I will spend some time in the forum looking around, it seems overwhelming. I am aiming to go the with the Indian look without the Indian name. I'm looking to a decent amount of work to achieve this. I want to upgrade the seat, exhaust and tires first. Then I'll start working on the smaller details.
