I have Polly Heaters in my bars... you have to drill holes but they wire right into your harness and don't have wires running anywhere visible.  They get warm too... just make sure you wire them into your ignition properly so you don't forget and leave them on and come out to a dead battery.

  The heated grips were one of my thoughts, as well. I decided to go with the gloves since I ride both bikes and I can move the controller from one to the other, and I rigged up a connection in my car for when it's not warmed up enough to turn on the heat....Weather channel is predicting -18 F for Monday over night! http://www.warmnsafe.com/heat-trollers/

I bought some battery heated gloves which work off a pp3 battery, I figured they would be safer than having my hands wired to the bike battery..I waited until I was cold enough to need them and the switched them on about five miles from home, they warmed my hands then I switched them off to conserve the battery, about three miles down the road I switched them on again and the batteries were flat, at the next service station I bought another eight duracell alkaline batteries, the first pair lasted until I was out of the service station and the rest lasted minutes..

I have since fitted heated grips which I switch on when the cold starts to nip my hands and off again when they feel warm threw (through) my gloves, these work very well for me and do not burn out or drain my battery.

I have a dual controller.  One runs the gloves and the other runs my coat liner and pants liner.  The gloves requires a different setting as my hands are out in the wind more.

If you hooked it directly to the battery, the gloves would never shut off.  You could do this, but you would have to disconnect them from time to time as they gloves would over heat.  (not a big problem vs very cold hands)  Perhaps a toggle switch would work for you so it could be done quickly while riding.

The controllers are pulse modulators rather than rheostats / thermostats.

I use the same plugs on my heated gear that is the same as the plug for my battery tender. On my HD Ultra, I ran it through a switch on the dash, so when I was getting too warm, shut it off for a bit until needed again.

I have a controller velcroed on my tank divider. Unless it's REALLY cold, I usually run it at about 1/2  speed. You can run them direct, but the heat might be a bit much...

I've never used heated gear before and decided to purchase some gloves. What else do I need for these. I see the trollers . Are these necessary or can u just run wire directly to battery. Remote or factory fit?
