Although what I have works....let me know what you have left over in a baffle for the 24 inch canister...I'm interested.

Surfing the webI finally got the answer I was looking for. In 2008 someone called roadhouse to have them explain the differene in the 3 baffles availabe. So from left to right in the picture above: the regular baffle with six inches of louvers, next the quiet one with 11 inches of louvers, and finally the performance one wich has no louvers but perforated metal (screen like).

I have the upportunity to buy another complete exhaust for a 100$ wich I think got the quiet baffle, On your suggestion I think i'll do it, and try to recover the cost by selling the tips, canister or other parts.

So since, you are buying used exhausts, that means you are working with what you find inside and so do not have a source for the baffle alone. O.K.

If the other used exhaust is cheap enough...I say buy it just for the baffle....the more the merrier...you will need to tune to your needs/desires.

I had mine on and off many times until I got the sound I wanted....as you would see from the link I sent. You are trying to get it right the first time....I get it.

The only other thing I did not try is a shop that specializes in fabricating exhausts....there might be some more info in that crowd on what is interchangeable or what might still be on the market that fits that canister. Good luck.

Actualy, I'm not sure exacly wich baffle I have that's why i'm asking. Haven't found a soruce, just bought a used exhaust and it came with the baffle similar to the 24861-0080 in the picture. It's the 24" lenght, 2 inches I.D. I might buy a second one wich a think come with the other baffle, but not sure yet.

I'm also wondering does more louvers = more quiet, ot the other way around. I suspect that creating more turbulence with more louvers should produce a quietter exhaust, but more louvers also mean more opening into the big canister, and drilling hole in this section of the baffles is the common way to increase the volume of the exhaust.........so i'm a bit confuse right now!

Nanook....So this continues to get interesting.

- First, can't argue with your photos, which show the fine mesh as the performance baffle, part number 1861-0078.  I see that listed as the performance baffle for the 4" x 24" canister per http://www.cyclwareables.com/pages/exhausts_roadhouse/exhausts_roadhouse.htm

- To add to conflicting info...the quiet core for the 4" x 24" canister is listed as part number 1861-0076, which doesn't comport with your photo.

- Looked thru all my notes on the Roadhouse install, and found that I had problems just finding a baffle for the 4 inch canister and actually bought and installed a baffle for the 4" x 20" canister that is part number 1861-0325....so even I don't have the right part in my own canister.

Again, since you say you have the standard baffle....did you just buy it and do you have a source for the correct baffle for the 4 inch x 24 inch canister?

Nanook: Took the descriptions from a hard copy of that secondary sight, where the photos were visible.  So not firsthand. Can't confirm any more than that. Will see if I have any other info from my own research.

Been a few years since I put mine in. I can confirm that it is 2.5 inch, but can't remember the length or what is under the FRP wrap.

In this picture the mesh one is listed as the performance one, ih the all louvered one is the quiet one, I guess mine (6inch louverd is the standard one) anyone can confirm!

Unfortunately, the picture in your link are not working. Are you sure about the performance baffle. I tought that the performance baffle was simply the 2.5". and that the 6" louverd was the regular, and 10" louverd was the quiet.

- the shorter section of louvered holes is the performance baffle
- the mesh one is the quiet baffle
- so the 10 inch louvered holes is the standard core

If the above thread still works, there were pictures of all three.

I have the 2.5 inch performance baffle on mine, because I could find a standard baffle. I solved the problem with an additional smartpartz baffle and reducers to bring the final baffle output to 1.5 inches. If you search in "800 only" for "tuning the roadhouse"...you can see what I did.

Do you have a source for the 2 inch standard baffle?

I have a few questions concerning the roadhouse. Checking in old catalog I see that the baffle come in two size, 2" and performance 2.5". I got the two inch, that's easy. But I see that they also come in different form. There is one with about 6" of louvered hole, there is one with almost 10" covering the entire space between the two shoulder, and there is one looking like it'a made out of mesh instead of louvered steel. Do you guys have picture of yours ( baffle of course!) do you know the difference. Also could someone measure the length of the 4" canister (excluding the tip) it seem that there are 20" and 24". The reason i'm asking all this is that i took a chance and acquire a roadhouse made for another brand, but it seem that the canister is all the same, the baffle also and even the headers are all 1.5". So with a few mods I will be able to easily put it on my drifter....not bad for 100$!
