Scamp62, The Baron tach number is BA-7570-01. I just looked it up on e-___ and am_z__. The price has gone up quite a bit since I bought mine, but the item is still available. I also noticed that you can get the unit now with a black instead of a chrome housing if you are so inclined.

scamp62, I have installed a Baron black face tach on my 2006 800 Drifter. Analog face that complements stock speedometer. Simple installation with instructions that came with the tach. About $ 120.00 on e-___. White face available  for you 1500 guys. I love having a tach. *Note: fogging of tach glass at times due to engine heat rising to handle bars.

Well got it mounted and seems to be working. I just took the extra and coiled it up under the fuel tank.

Now to replace the cable for the GPS unit and we will be ready to run a few tests.....

Here's a couple more pics to show how to wrap and mount it.  The only thing not so clear (instructions explain it) is you have to shorten the wire (or else coil up the excess somewhere) and strip off the outer insulation--not the inner--where you will wrap around the coil wire.  You can't see the wraps underneath the electrical tape, so I thought I'd point that out.

I wrapped it around the front plug wire about 3 or 4 times and then and I put some electrical tape over the wraps and then I put a zip tie on top of that and it's still holding after more than 50 hours of riding. Pretty sure there's a YouTube how to install it if you do a search for TTO tachometer.

P.S I see tachometer offered that will work with a Harley Davidson bikes...would this work on a Drifter ?
