Thanks for all the input.
I have the standard OEM 2-up seat and mount so something that swaps out sounds like my best option. ( I tried getting a separate bike for her, but that didn't fly :-\)
Looks like I will be looking into Corbin or F&S.
I don't feel like engineering a new system, so I'll let the 800 idea die  :)

Should anyone come across a good used seat, feel free to shoot me a message!

no only do you need the correct model seat (1500), but you need the sub-frame that mounts to the bike and that the seat then sits on (held in place by a small nut towards the back of the sub-frame)  That combination, if you can find it, can easily set you back almost as much as a new 2-up Corbin seat...

My issues with Corbin seats is that they seem to have some mounting issues (so I have heard) and, this is just my personal opinion, are fugly looking....but lots of drifter riders swear by them.  I rarely use the two up seats, but it's nice to have them handy when I do need one.

A few years ago I was fortunate enough to find a local guy willing to sell me a 2-up Corbin seat for $250 and my stock 2-up seat. He was selling his Drifter. As far as mounting the seat, it was a direct fit in place of the stock 2-up seat...no modifications. The 2-up Corbin has the lowest seating position of any of the other 2-up seats (Kawasaki Fire & Steel and the stock 2-up seat. I have saddlebags on my '99 Drifter and usually always run the 2-up seat.

no they do not swap one from another.  different frames.  maybe if you're an engineer y'all could rig something but it would take one hell of a lot to get an 800 saddle to swap to a 1500 frame, it at all.

Anyone know if the 800 seat interchanges with the 1500?

the aftermarket Fire & Steel two up seat is much more comfortable than the stock seat.  I believe that it was made by Corbin (foam and upholstery) but set on a Kawasaki pan so it fits just like a stock seat.  They come up once in a while on ebay.  I have one in tan and the stock two up seat in black (for when I am changing out color schemes on my 1500)  The F&S seat is MUCH more comfortable....here is a pic of my tan one set up with my backrest mount and rear rack

Look for a Corbin. The new ones are a little pricey. Sometimes used ones show up on here, FB or ebay.

What is the best 2-up seat for the 1500?  I have the OEM seat, but the boss doesn't find it that comfortable for longer rides.  Looking for recommendations...or if you have one you want to get rid of.

Thanks!
