Thank you. Yes, I have seen it, but it's a bodge and likely to look ugly and unlikely to work well. I want to remove the plug and fit  a new O-ring like the designer intended.

Come on guys, with all the accumulated Drifter wisdom, knowledge and experience represented here somebody must know ho to remove the d**n plug!

Looks like the rocker box needs to be removed to R&R that plug.

OK people, my turn to ask for some help.

I've noticed a witness of oil has started to appear around the blanking plug in the cylinder head. The blanking plug is in line with the camshaft, so I'm guessing that its purpose is machining access during manufacture, probably the cam bearing cap and the head machined together.

The cap certainly doesn't get a mention in the Kawasaki or Haynes workshop manuals. That nice Mr. Google hasn't helped either.

In the parts list it is a bung with two grooves, one with an O-ring (which must need replacing) and one groove without an O-ring. I suspect that this second groove is something to do with how the plug is secured in the cylinder head. As the parts list doesn't appear to show any fixing details, all I can think of ist that the dowel pin that locates the rocker-box cover is long enough to engage with the second groove in the plug.

Does anybody know how to remove it? how is it secured in place - is it the same dowel pin that locates the cover?
