Those dam brackets were apparently never avaible from Kawasaki, even if you purchased a new seat!  In any case, you probably know this... the brackets for the solo and dual seat are the same so if you have a set, you can swap them.

Regarding 1500 Solo Seats, I have found the need for the mounting brackets for the OEM solo seat?    Looks like an older thread listed someone making them for $10.00 pair unpainted.  I would be happy to purchase 2 or 3 sets?    HELP????     Thanks

I have a Harley old style solo on my 1500 and it works great.  I made my brackets from scratch and bought an Indian pan and seat on the 1st go around.  It worked great but after years of use I finally broke a bolt of the bottom of the seat.  The seat was done by Wayne Hagler of Heathers Leathers in SC.  I sent it back and he told me that my fat ass and the sprngs I was using caused the breakage.
I decided  to give the Harley pan a try and it works great.  Wayne did a super job on it and it looks great. He also makes the brackets to fit the older style Harley pans to the 1500. Wayne at HL also has the 1500 seat pans and will do a seat for the 1500.
As for OEM seats for the 99-00 models, there was an upgrade that Chief corrected me on.  They had 2 solos put out by Fire and Steel in that 1st year.  I have the new owners  brochure that shows them.  They are rare as hens teeth.  Y

ou can reach me at 620-768-9785 evenings after 6 pm CST if you want to chat about it.

The 99/00 1500s came stock with a 2 up, BUT, BUT, BUTT, there were two solo seats offered as upgrades at the time.  One was black and the other was tan.  My 99 came with the tan version and my buddies 2000 came with a black one.  They are both made to fit the 1500.  They are advertised in the Drifter promo stuff that came with my 99.

99/2000's came with two up setup. 2001 on came with the solo and they sold F&S solo seats. You can occasionally find used for sale here, ebay etc. Corbin still makes a solo for the Drifter.

I put a La Rosa Police Solo seat on my 800 first (black leather with flames embroidered)....then when I got my 1500 I put it on it as well....on both bikes there is a cross-member under the oem seat.  I used a flat piece of steel with holes to mount to the cross-members via threaded rivets.  once i had the correct position for the steel plate, I mounted it to the seat via the springs and then mounted the whole setup to the bike.  only uses 3 bolts (tank bolt for the front mount and 2 hex bolts for the plate to the threaded rivets in the cross-member) and takes 5 minutes to switch out....one pic is on my 800 and the other is on my 1500.  total cost for the seat and added black leather fringe was about $275.  The seat is far more comfortable on long rides than the oem seat and is nicely padded....

1500 and 800 have different kind of seats, because of their own different brackets, so they're not interchangeable.
You could only change a solo to a 2-up and vice-versa, but for the 1500 you'll need to find the horseshoe bracket.
OR you could just adapt any kind of seat, but it's up to your skills...

I love my swingin' bike!

Sorry for the lack of replies. I have recently Acquired a 1999 Drifter 1500 and have not had much success getting straight answers to my questions at any kind of productive time frame. I have learned that the 99-2000 models came stock with a 2 up seat. In 01 and up the standard was a Solo seat. They are hard to find and when you do find one it will cost you. You can still get a new solo seat from Corbin for about $500 or be patient and check ebay, this forum and your local craigslist for a rare opportunity. I just picked up a NOS (New Open Stock) Solo seat on eBay for $300.
Good luck to you.

Solo seat was standard on the R models

I need some information.  I have both a 1500 and 800 Drifters.  I want to run a solo seat on my 1500.  I can find no reference to a OEM solo seat for that bike.  I have seen articles online about adapting 800 solos and if I am going to have to fabricate, I will probably go with a 46 Indian type, with springs.

My nephew also has a 1500.  The bike has several "upgrades" (?) and is running a solo seat much like the 800.  It was however designed for that bike and is not "adapted".  We have looked and can find no labels to indicate it's origins.

Anyone have any thoughts?  Did Kawasaki have a stock Solo seat for the 1500?  Is my nephew's seat an accessory?  If so, who likely made it?  Are they still being made?

Thanks!
