There is a difference in the lengths of the stems of the signal lights on the front they are shorter than the rear.

We just have amber indicators front and rear - makes me wonder why the rear indicator part number should be different from Canada/US.

Something as simple as the colour or finish would necessitate a different part number even though the part is identical in all other aspects.  If I was a betting man, I'd put my money on the stem length being different (assuming the difference is not colour or finish).

I'll have to find it again Uncle Rolly, but brake lights in Canada have to be red. Your correct in that Turn signals can be either, but when you are using a single pod as we are to have marker / signal / brake lights then the lens must be Red in the rear of the vehicle. I had the appropriate section at one time, and had it verified by the OPP. That is why my 800 has red lenses on the back and when I do the same to Pearl I will be replacing the covers with red so if you need amber ones I have a bunch....lol....

Rear turn signals can be red or amber and running lights have to be red. I have not found anything stating that they need to be red when combined in Canada.

Here in Italy we do have amber indicators front & rear, too.

I love my swingin' bike!

Thanks guys,

That explains "running lights".

I know in Canada and the US the Drifters had no marker or running lights in the rear. The front signal lights have 3 wires and run a 1157 bulb and the rear is a 2 wire setup, I have taken the front signal light guts out of the housing because the housings are different and put the three wire ones into the rear of the bike making it so I have running / marker lights and turn signals. But in Canada once you do that you need to change the cover to red and not have it amber.......

Not 100% clear on what your asking but the North American model had amber 'running' lights on the front and amber turn signals on the rear, i.e. no running lights on rear.  You mention extra 'reds' on the back - are the Aus rear lamps red - if so that's different than NA models.

Ordered a new left rear indicator by american part number (Ron Ayers fiche) and told that part number is not correct for Australia. Have ordered parts successfully, before. Though "running lights" were extra white lights at front, and US drifters doubled up on the use of the front indicators ? Are they also at the back as extra reds ??? I thought the rears would be the same part number.
