Will a 1999 rear wheel (rim) fit a 2001?

Are you talking about the rim itself or the wheel? If I was taking the wheel apart I would consider powder coating.

I think PC's logic  is good here.  Pretty sure they are the same.

Thanks for all the replies ... I ordered one off of Ebay.   The Drifter I bought had quite a few pits in the rear rim which I can't stand once I knew they are there.

A 2000 is a "J", just like a 1999, and a 2001 is an "R".  With that in mind, and the fact that most of the changes between the "R"'s and "J"'s were with the tank and speedo, I don't see why the wheel would be any different between the two.  In other words, I can't really see them redesigning the wheel.....literally!  To top it off, according to Ron Ayers parts fiche, the rear wheel has the same part number for a 1999 and a 2001.

I think your guy is maybe thinking of a Classic or something.

Maybe I'm wrong though.....

Will a 1999 rear rim fit a 2001 without issue?  I was looking at a 99 but the guy tells me that only 2000 and up will fit my 2001 but didn't say why.
I've googled all over and couldn't find an answer.
Thanks in advance to all responses.
