tj I know the area well, and you are correct some awesome riding roads around here, really nice ride is 522 to Grundy Provincial Park and then out to Killarny for fish and chips. If you ride to the cottage this summer we will have to met for a Sat ride.

Welcome to the forum tj!  Looks like a great project you have going there.  Can't wait to see it done!

TO sounds good. I've picked out a tan/sand colour...I think it will "pop" against the black. It's similar to the Fallon Brown on the 40's chief.
We have a cottage close to North Bay...Commanda Lake which is joined to Restoule Lake. Are you familiar with it?...lotta great roads up that way.

tj closest member to you would be a couple of people in Windsor. Might run into you at the bike show in TO if you are around on Sat.
as for the lowlifes a few of them and they will hound you once they come on line and be bugging for pictures but now you have beat them to the punch they have nothing to pick on you. Very nice 99, a lot of fun to work on your own bike. Are you going to leave it original colour?

Welcome TJ.  I saw your gallery pics very sharp looking Drifter.  I see the PO gave you a nice headstart.  The fender Indain head mount is the coolest and part goes for $75 new and it already wired that bonus bucks and time, then you have the extra driving light again installed and cost around $300 for a new quality one, and handlebar risers cool look.
Well enjoy your Drifter and this great forum......The fun begins.......I have my fenders and tank off to the painters for a two tone look.....Trall

Love the Indian head mount too! It wasn't wired and the install job was poor...like most things on the bike. But as I put things on, it will be correct. Painted the head black...like a lot of the chrome parts. Changing the handlebars and risers back to the OEM ones...i think they suit the bike better.
Love the two tone on these bikes...really suits them.

Welcome TJ! I'm kinda new here myself. I have the same year and color Drifter (mostly stock). Looks like you're really getting into it. Looking forward to the finished product.

Thanks, I guess the 99's were the most popular...from what I've read.

Hello all, I'm Tom from Ontario, Canada. Been riding for about 30 years, having many different bikes. Enough about me, on to the bike...
A couple of months ago I purchased a 99 Drifter 1500. Love the looks of it...retro styling and those fenders! I've been taking it apart, gonna give her back the old school look. So far I've replaced the tires, changed fluids etc. The fenders and tank are at the paint shop now. I've been doing some small mods, inspired by this site...thanks!
There are pics in my gallery, check them out if u get a chance and let me know what you think. Any comments or suggestions are welcome.
Cheers.
