Old Drifter

Welcome to the forum. Nice Drifter, looks like you have a Sportster in the pic too. Get well soon and get that leg over the 800...pain-free!

Well, allstateguy, Welcome to the forum!

Once you heal up a bit more you'll have to hit us up for suspension setting tips so we can make the Drifter buttery smooth for ya!

That's pretty cool to know!   Thanks for the info.

from 1953 thru 1959 (I think I'm close on the years) Sears sold Cushman-built scooters under the Allstate brand name. Cushman built these for Sears, but with fewer features and less technology (ha!) than their own brand. Example: if it was a Cushman scooter, it had a better centrifugal clutch than the Allstate branded scooter got.

One of my favorite Allstate (Cushman built) scooters was the Jet Sweep. It had the 5hp engine and a centrifugal clutch. If it had been a Cushman it would have had the 8hp engine and a two-speed transmission.

How was Sears involved with Cushman?  My dad is a big Cushman fan, but I've never heard him mention Sears.

my allstateguy moniker has nothing to do with the insurance arm of Sears (the split taking place many decades ago)

it is more related to my interest in all things Sears made in the motoring arena: motorcycles from Gilera, Puch, and Cushman; and cars from Kaiser Frazer. I've had most of the motorcycles, and just one rusty Henry J twin.

I haven't figured out how to post pics on my emails, but did get one put in twice in the gallery.

Recovery from the back surgery (my second) has been slow and incredibly painful. Making progress, but still can't throw a leg over the Drifter. At least not without a heavy load of drugs; NOT the way I ride!

WELCOME allstateguy.  This isn't Dennis Haysbert, is it??   ::) ;D

Did someone mention pictures?  We always like Drifter Pictures.   Hope your recovery with your surgery is quick and complete!!  How did it go, anyway?  I'm getting as many opinions as I can--- I go see the back specialist in a couple weeks to see what they say....  hopefully we can avoid the knife.

So welcome to the forum - you'll find a lot of great information on here!

Take care....   Are You In Good Hands??  (allstate slogan, sorry, couldn't resist... :o )

Many of us can relate with back surgery.
Hang in there and you will be Drifting down the road soon...
(never soon enough though)

Welcome John,
hope your recovery is fast and you are going to love the 800, before you get hammered and hounded by some of our not so nice members you need to post some pictures of your ride.
