Winter Projects 2015

Always thought that motorcycle wheel bearings, if properly lubed (granted they may not be properly lubed from the factory), should be good for the life of the bike.   Frequent washing can tend to dry out the steering and swing arm bearing as they're not sealed (I don't think the swing arm bearing are sealed, are they?).

Oh, NO! Your bike came down with Chirpies? That's a canarial disease, and if left untweeted, it can lead to more funny noises!

  I am guessing they are the original ones so they are 16 years old, and I am going to have the tires off to be replaced so might as well do them and the cost is not to bad. So doing the wheel bearings might as well do the rest.
Also had a bit of a squirrel in the bike near the end of my trip this summer, and it was either the tires or the bearings, so will make sure it is gone.

Why the need for new bearings?

  And I so enjoy working on my bike and getting to do things myself. Perhaps I might need to buy another bike to tinker on....

He's got longer then that.  He's in Canada, so he has 11 months, 29 days, 16 hours, and 45 minutes until is 15 minutes of riding season is here.  Then it's back to the living room and do it all over again!

    Well they are saying that the little Spanish kid is supposed to be nice to us this winter, but they said that a few years ago and it was a horrible winter.
I am going to start at the back of the bike and work my way to the front. Most of the work will be on the front end this winter. I want to see about the front rotor and the zerk fitting in the neck.

   Name is CDNRatMan not PC so figure it should take me about 3 weeks of getting it done........take my time and relax...lol...

  Ok due to medical issues with my leg and the temps down to the low 30's now, I am parking my bike and going to start my 2015 project list. Here is my list of proposed projects for the bike this winter.

1. Oil / filter change,
2. New tires front and rear, adding counter balance beads
3. New wheel bearings front and rear, All Ball Bearing kits,
4. New steering head bearings again All Ball Bearings,
5. Zerk fitting in the neck as per Troll and GB,
6. Swing arm bearings replaced,
7. Drilled rotor for the front from a Classic 800,
8. New Stainless Steel Brake lines in black of course, and a +2" extension on the front one,
9. Check and clean calipers as I have this all apart,
10. Switching the power point to a USB type,
11. Weld some tabs on the Front engine guard for new LED lights and my highway pegs,
12. Then take a bunch of parts for powder coating.

Pretty simple list and I have all the parts in the spare room right now so as soon as the bike is inside I will commence and start with the rear wheel and work forward. I will be making a record and taking pictures if anyone needs any help with these projets, and of course my tech support team is only an e mail away right Troll and GreenBarn. then my moral support he is also only a e mail call away ....49....49 were are you......
