Lots of info on bars etc... here... Always look at the References button in the nav bar... a ton of good info under that tab.

Welcome and yes you will be hounded for pictures so solve it and post them into your gallery and get it over with.

PC has given you all the specs on your handlebars so that is done. I used the risers below and had to re route a few items, and am really happy with the seating position now, over the old stock one. Bars should all be the same from 99 through.

Were about's in the GTA are you? There is a gentleman with a blue 800 in the GTA Ron or Bob, met him on Skyline Dr in VA this past few weeks, aralph is in Windsor, Donkey in Ottawa, Wayne in New Liskeard, a new couple in Elliot Lake with 800s.

I think D1 swapped out his bars but I am not sure of many who have swapped out their bars. Most just did the riser swap.
Another mod is the sprocket swap, stock is 17/40 and swap to a 18/38 and makes the bike feel like it has a 6th gear. Not a bike for the 400 series highways, but I ran 11 south from North Bay to Windsor at 120 kms and it never missed a beat all day, nice and comfortable ride.

GPS is not to get you THERE but rather to get you home from THERE

Sounds like a nice bike, but without pics........;D

Just kidding!  But we do like pics!  Has anyone mentioned that yet?

As for the bars, I think you're looking for whats called "Beach Bars".  Those bars require changing all the hoses and cables for longer ones.

Your stock bar diameter is 1", height is 5", width is 33 1/2", 14' pullback, and you have a 6 1/2" center section with a 2" x 5" clamp area.

Many people find that it works well for them to just swap out the risers, and that seems to do the trick for them.  Scootworks makes the longest riser with the most pullback that you can use without lengthening cables and hoses, though you do have to reroute them some.  The Phat Riser II's are those risers.  The original Phat Riser's don't require rerouting and still offer some advantage over stock.  You can find more info here: http://www.scootworks.com/shop.cgi/page=partskawhandle.htm/SID=1438868537.23095

Well, first off, welcome to the funny-farm. Lots of good tech advise, some very intelligent people on here. Second, you WILL be harassed for pics; some of these people on here will hound you unmercifully for pics. Not me though, no way. Unh- unh. Did I mention we like pics? ;D as to bars, sounds like you are looking for beach bars, as to figment I will let the Ratman answer that, he is quite knowledgeable on the 800's, and he is in your area as well. Look up beach bars you can see what they look like.

Again, welcome aboard.   Btw, did I mention we like pics???

Kill 2 birds with one stone intro and a question, if that is ok. I just picked up a 99 Drifter 800, gold with a 2 up seat with lots of frills hanging off the seat and saddle bags. This is my first cruiser mostly in to sport bikes and jap 2 strokes from the 70's like RD's and Kawi triples but I think at my age it maybe time to move on to cruisers. I love this little bike a really nice bike to ride. I'm from Ontario Canada. Anyone from the GTA ?

one of the first t hings i'd like to do is change the bars but I cant find the stock bar spec for a 99 only for 2001 and up, were they the same in 1999 as 2001 also I'm looking for Bars that are low, wide and have a long pull back have any of you guys done this and what bars did you use and are there any pics

so there are 3 dimensions to bars   width, Rise and Pull back anyone know what the stock dimensions are for a 1999 Drifter 800 ?
