  I also find it very stable, you can put some of Troll's vids on the big screen, turn on the fans, (put them on high is the best thing) crank on the tunes and way you go and the only thing missing is the road bumps and heaves, but I am thinking a couple of small lifter thingys, like a one of them cars that hop around on the corners of the plywood, and I could make it so realistic....a new plan for next winter......

and you are most welcome, and for a bike show the stand is almost hidden under the bike or could be .......

After building, well modifying a ATV lift for the 800, due to the engine being lower then the frame, I picked up one of these little items.....

this is so much lighter, easier to handle, and it will lift the rear tire off the ground and will lift the front if you move it forward. This works fine in the work area I am doing my maint in.

Mine arrived yesterday and it is great!
No, it is not near as nice as the $150 versions but very much worth the money.
Adjustable height, plastic tube on the top bar so it doesn't scratch the bike frame, simple design.

I will be using it at the annual bike show next month...

Nothing a concrete saw and a few bags of quick-crete won't fix......     I thought about that myself... and how really nice that would be.   But I've got this thing against that much manual labor...

I have a couple of guys who do work for me periodically. I am toying with the idea of getting one of them to do the work. I'm not sure I want to cut that big a hole in my garage floor. We are also thinking about building a detached garage... so that would be the time to do something like this. Looks like more lottery tickets are needed.

Did you get one of the HF wheel chocks?  Either 97145 or 97841?

No I had a Condor chock and just adapted it.

  One like that needs to be modified to fit under an 800 because the lift arms are too short and wimm end up messing with the lower shock mount and the engine.

I bought one last year when they were on sale and replaced the wheel chock/vise. Works well for the GW, but the Drifter not so much. I need a different chock of this kind for both. Drifter tires are wider than GW tires... plus the drifter fender. So I will be looking for a different chock.

I've used mine for the bikes, but also for furniture refinishing, putting together my wife's bicycle, etc. Worth the money. I just wish it were built into the garage floor. Still working on that!

HF just extended their sale from 3/12 to 3/15 for the table.  Apparently, sales were not that brisk on the previous sale.

Just recently bought a lift table, a Titan 1000L, and îm quite please. Working at the right height is priceless to me. Every job seem easier now.

Jag, I'm thinking the engine lift would't be too bad just to work off of.  As long as you could suspend the bike from the top so as to not interfere with your work?

I built a bike lift from a pallet lift I bought on Ebay or CL (locally).  It's been great - I have a back problem, and this really makes a difference.

Sure, the engine hoist is plenty strong and is very sturdy.
It can easily be used for all kinds of things.

I also have back injuries and I don't lift anything heavy anymore so I bought the engine lift and it folds down quite compact.
The boom slides back in and the lift arm stores almost vertical down, and the leg extensions slip out and store next to the pump.
It is on wheels and I keep it next to the wall between uses.

I recommend them highly for every shop.
Mine came from the auto parts store for around $100 and I am pretty sure it is the same as Harbor Freight.

I have wanted a lift for several years, but the cost!

The $300 HF would be just fine for me but the shipping costs more than the lift. 

I keep watching CL locally though...

I have 3 bike work tables that can take the weight, and an engine hoist to lift the bike onto them but a lift table for the Drifter would be excellent.

Harbor Freight has sale ads in almost all of the motorcycle magazines every month with these lifts for $299.00. That's how I got mine.

HF just had the sale this past weekend for 299.  Plus, using the 20% coupon, it comes to 240 plus tax.  I was reading some reviews and what some guys are doing is adding the 97145 or 97841 Wheel Chock on the front, and using the supplied wheel clamp on the back.  This makes it much easier to load the bike as a one man operation.

We got a couple of K & L air lifts where I work.  They have been flawless for the past 2 years.  I use a pallet jack to move it around, though you can hook a strap to it and slide it.    I've never pulled the trap door for the rear wheel, just never needed to.  Kind of spendy at $1000 plus, but you can catch them on sale and K&L sometimes offers free shipping.

But no matter what lift you choose, it gonna save wear an tear on your body.  I sure do enjoy them.

Guess I need to pick up a copy of a bike rag someplace if I decide to go that route.  I'm thinking I could POSSIBLY modify one of those to get what I want, maybe easier/cheaper than building one from scratch.
