After seeing your bikes, I don't feel as bad about overpacking now. Of course taking a travel humidor on a motorcycle is probably a step more than a lot of people...

My saddlebags were sagging as well, but it was the inside wall (the one next to the fender) that wasn't staying flat. I ended up using a piece of thick kydex (the stuff holsters are made of) and bolted in to the bags with small SS bolts and the largest fender washers I could find for that size. The kydex is black so any scratches will also be black, and the kydex weighs next to nothing, and it won't rust and is chemical resistant. Just another option for people who just need to fix one side.

I find the plastic storage boxes are best for stiffening leather bags, most cheap shops like harbour freight or maybe walmart sell them and if you can get the right size for your bags they keep everything dry and make the bags look great.

Nope...I used 3/4" wide flat steel and just at the ends...got a picture of it here, someplace.....that third picture is one done, the other not ....

Yea, Ratman, Troll had WAY more stuff strapped to his bike....  Seems to me I've seen a certain Sunbeam Red 800 pretty packed too...

   you know after seeing the load that GB put on his poor machine after Drift In 14 perhaps you should offer him those bags so he can then not have to take that huge goalie bag to pack his extra stuff in......or perhaps this year he will get the Missus to drive down in the P/U and use the bed of the truck for his extra stuff.

You bet I do. I have completely refurbished them, made a light weight set of stiffeners for the inside, cleaned, and dyed them and have them mounted on my quick removal rack system. 4 chrome acorn nuts and the whole rear assembly lifts off, rack, bags, trunk, all at once. Here's a picture of the prototype setup. I've refined it since last Fall, and now the bags look like (almost) new.

It SHOULD work....  just get out the staple gun, and staple whatever-is-sagging to the board, and ...   no more sag....

Go to the store and get a couple of those plastic cutting boards used in the kitchen.  They're dirt cheap, cutable, paintable, and they stick with glue better then metal.

I think I might go that route too on my Osprey bags.  I wish this would work on other things I have sagging.

I took the bags off the quick removal brackets and installed them with the factory loops, this morning. They now hang better, and don't look so saggy.....

I'm pretty much settled on using 3/8" brake line, and some 3/4" flat stock I already have. What ever I do, it will be invisible...
