Thanx Bud. I already saw your nice report and that's why I decided to go for that mod on my bike.

 if he is looking for a tail light then once I get that box of parts I bought off Kijiji I'll check to see what is in it, I know I got handle bars, grips, licence plate bracket, but the guy selling it said there was a box of parts and he just did not list them all, so once I have it I'll know. The seller is a Trucker and said he does runs this way, and he would call me, and met me at their terminal, but he was gone to the US for about a month so it should be soon he is back.

If the fenders are the same, wouldn't the brackets around the outside of the fenders be the same width?  I mean, I've seen that the 800's brackets appear to hug the fender the same way the 1500's do, so even though the part numbers will be different because they mount differently, the width around the back should be about the same, shouldn't it?

We could solve this real quick with a pic of the back of your 800 now that you've added the bumperette's to yours Mr. Ratman!

I couldn't find that chrome tail light thing on any of the UK fiches.  I did happen to find an expired Australian eBay auction for a used taillight assembly that did include that piece so maybe it was included on Aussie models?

I looked around, and apparently you can't buy it and the lens that goes with it anymore...

  ok mystery solved, that chrome "thingy" is only on the European models, I went to the VDOGUK site and asked, here is the response....

the chrome thing is a standard fitting to the rear light of all the Drifters I know of..
I have a spare rear light  here with that fitting and my drifter has the same fitting..
I can only assume your previous owner removed the one on your Drifter...
Ii is purely decorative and has no function what I can see. I have thought about removing
mine as the light does look much cleaner without it... but then you need to add a deeper
rubber seal or something to stop water ingress into the light...

That taillight thing is cool.  Wonder what other goodies they have over there?  I'd love a lights switch if there is such a thing (I"v purchased euro-spec light switches for some of my old Hondas).

Anyone know where to find euro spec parts fiches for the Drifter?

I went through that taillight thing with a guy from England... it's stock, but not for N. America..too bad, it's pretty neat looking!

Ha ha, neither forest ranger nor fire fighter!  I spotted the extinguisher at the hardware store ($7) and immediately realized what a perfect "Drifter accessory" it would make. Same thing with the fuel can, which I already had. They're stuff for looks, that also can be useful. 

The bib was on the bike when I bought it, so I'm afraid I have no clue as to where You can buy them. I'm pretty darn sure the tail light is stock. Maybe they were different for the european market? I'll post a close-up of it later.

Looks great, and I like the theme going on, but where did that tank bib come from?  I've not seen one available that widens out at the top to encompass the fuel filler like that.  Did you make it?  The tail light is different too.  What's the story there?

  ok the question is begging to be asked, you have a fuel can on one side and a fire extinguisher on the other side, WHY?......are you a forest Ranger, or fire fighter?

The fuel can I really like.

That is one sweet looking colour of red and it looks like a really nice bike, I am takne with it, olooks really nice. I would like a closer look at the tail light however.

Yup just something about that colour and look of that bike is so good.
