Well, it's finally "Summer" here...went down to 45 deg. over night......Hmmmm. ANYWAY. I went out for a ride with my new jacket on, just because. I like it a lot, and I made the 180 lbs. this morning!!! Took a few pictures here, and there. Usually this weekend is a big deal for the camp sites and recreation stuff. We have a thing called "RiverFest", which is another excuse to go down by the river and get drunk, just like "OctoberFest"...I avoid BOTH, and all the little drunk fests in between. Here's a few pics. of the Mighty Mississippi, messing with the "FEST"...and the camp grounds. About half the camp sites are under water, and all the parks/beaches are closed...I can hardly wait to hear them whine about the lost revenue..except for the bar owners, who will do well.

Tomorrow is the annual "Ride For Dad" for the fight against prostrate cancer, forecast is calling for a nice sunny day so that is my plans for tomorrow, and I will take pictures......lots of them.......

So......June 14th from 3:15pm to 3:30pm is riding season up there, huh?  I'll have to make a note of that.

BTW, since the winter storage/teardown starts this evening, what are your planned mods this year?  Have to enhance that "riding season" as much as possible so you can get the most out of it, huh? ;D

Hell, RAIN without a shield can be like needles. Hail can be VERY dangerous for bikers... it only takes one big one to do you in. Be careful out there!

And the amount of noise when it hits your forehead....

....and Frankenstein has no extra room....this is a bare bones trike. Want to rig up a tour pack on the back for just such situations as this.

Back to topic: Spring rides.

Took the wife out for supper last night, to a place called "Windy Point", about a half hour ride. Took Frankenstein, as the Drifter only has a solo seat. Weather was warm, so not much riding gear, leather jacket, fingerless gloves, helmet without the side curtain. Wife was all geared up, chaps, jacket, gloves, helmet(open face) etc. Coming home, about 5 minutes in to the ride, it started to rain. That didn't last long, because it then started to pour; the old "up-ended bucket" kind of pour. That didn't last too long either, because it then added a generous portion of hail in to the mix. Rained and hailed so hard, was down to about 30 miles an hour; no place to pull over, so just kept going. Finally got home at around 6:30 pm, hung up the jeans, wrung out my socks, (literally) and headed for the tub. Not one of my better "spring rides". Has anyone ever noticed how much hail hurts on the face? :o

Oh yer funny! The warranty work was for body work; had some repairs done a year ago, and it didn't hold up.

That being said around 2 years ago, I had to see a specialist; 14 hour drive. One way. It is pretty sad how our "free" medical, which we pay big money for, works.

And  THAT being said, we have successfully hijacked this thread....

You boys need to get out of the tundra!

Move south and you'll have lots of extra time on your hands for riding!  15 minutes will get you to a car dealership, 20 minutes to a doctor, hospital, or specialist, and they have these things called a "Mall" where you can go in one building and shop in dozens of different stores, all under 1 roof!  Gas stations are all over the place, and they even compete with each other for your business!  Why, moving south would also allow you to ride for more then 30 seconds a year between winters!  Think of the possibilities!  You could actually run out a full tank of fuel or two in a single day, and then get up and do it again the next day!  And you could do that every day for literally months on end!  Can you even imagine?  It's GLORIOUS!!!!!!  ;D

I have some pictures that explain why you should NEVER leave home without a camera....

No joke!! Went to Dawson Creek yesterday, (about 3 hours away, had to drop my truck off for some warranty work; on the way to Dawson, I saw something I highly doubt I will ever get to see again in this lifetime. Saw a black bear trying to run down a bull moose; he must have disturbed a sow with cubs. All I could see was the moose in full flight with the bear hot on his heels. Where was the camera you ask? At home in the office. On the way home, there in Chetwynd, at one of the hotels, was a Chevy Nomad; and painted in the same colors as my Drifter, maroon and black. The camera was of course still at home. I might not have had time to get the chase on film, but the Nomad was a different story. Phooey.
