Ohhhh....he knows all about the yellow snow,my man.My in laws live on a lake in the beautiful country so Pa's potty training method is teaching the boys how to pee on a tree when they all learned how to walk.Pa has never in his life time changed a diaper so if they couldn't pee on a tree they were left with Nana,,,LOL......Thing is we live in the city limits of our town so Aidan thought he could just go pee on a tree when he came home.......Kinda like that movie with Adam Sandler....Big Daddy

Cool....remember to teach him not to eat the yellow snow that seems to find its way into the area around the shack.......

JH how is the fishing, it used to be super, but with all the over fishing and Natives using nets it has declined a lot, but there are other lakes in the area that are still really good, but then they are harder to get into. Nice to just go out and drop a line sit back and relax chat and nap the day away....

That's not fishing, you hang your line in the water with some beer on the end of it, a few strong cheese sandwiches in plastic wrap and everytime you pull the line up you drink the cold one and put a fresh one on the line for next..That's not fishing, it's drinking..

So what is the fishing like..I have fished in New Zealand where if you don't catch something worth eating in five minutes you think you are in the wrong place, ten minutes and you move on..no rod, just a line and an old coke bottle as a reel..and mullet guts for bait.

and of course beer..

Ratman, not to sure in this case if bigger is better. There's only 3 of us that enjoy the ice fishing outing..that's My father in-law Aidan and myself so the one you have is ideal for our crew if you went to send the architecture plans for that one ;).....Every year they have a fishing contest near me called "King of the ice"It's been awhile since I've been able to participate being it seems to always fall on a drill weekend

D1: glad he liked it I can send him plans for the bigger one we were going to build......

49: normal choice is worms/leeches/minnows.....very few people use jigs and lures really not that I know anyway.

JH: you want to laugh ...take a couple of them down south US folks from the states way down south out on the ice for the first time and watch their eyes...the ice bends and it makes all kinds of noises as you move across it......if you are doing mach 900 on an snow machine you will not hear it.....when I dive out on the ice in my Jimmy, windows down and seatbelt off, doors unlocked and radio off so i can hear the ice. once they call unsafe ice I will follow their advice and not venture out on it ....

It is almost impossible for me to imagine a place where you can drive out on to ice, cut a hole in it from the comfort of a heated trailer and actually catch fish which you can probably cook and eat while you fish for the next one..

I PROTEST!!!! That "shack" is bigger (and nicer, I might add) than my "den" !

What do you use to catch them; do you lure them in to the steady "chink, chink, chink", of the empties landing on the pile? ;D

He loves it Ratman....he's calling PA to have him build him one for ice fishing next season. We just go right out on the ice with the 4 whellers towing the trailer with the grill and other supplies.PA use to have a shamee, but it was very old and had to tear it down. You know he's going to be all over building this shamee in the spring now, thanks bud.

D1 here is a post for Aidan seeing as he is doing all your scut work for you and he will most likely have to polish and get the bike ready for the first ride for you.
But when we go ice fishing it is in style, this is the shack we use, 4 computer chairs for comfort, we ahve a kitchen area and a stove to keep us warm. Four holes in the floor to fish through.
