To insure a good positive permanent connection, solder & heat shrink are the only way to go.

Good point to remember in future with problems like this.

I agree Chief  I too believe that it was mostly the wire.  I'm just glad it's running. Had it not been for the directions on gadget I would have never found the wire problem since it was taped. I found it when I removed the tape.

I suspect it was the bad wire causing the bike to run poorly. You don't need to do anything to the TPS if you have an EFI box, like a PCIII. You adjust the PCIII to accomplish the same thing... only you have a wider range of adjustment. Since you adjusted yours and it did nothing to help, its pretty clear the problem was the wire.

TPS adjustment is only helpful if you don't have an EFI box and the problem is small enough for the narrow range of adjustment available on the TPS.

We have the tps adjustment info in the mods/tips section of the website.

Again, for others interested in this, its only helpful if you don't have a PCIII, FI2000 etc and haven't made significant changes to the bikes air/fuel systems... ie pipes and air box. If you change out the pipes and air box, you still need an EFI Box.

I'm so happy you found your problem. And just in time for Summer! Time to rack up some miles ;D

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I adjusted the TPS and mended a bad wire to the TPS. 1SG CAV is running strong now. There is no black smoke, no stalling or hesitation. I found a site that shows how you can adjust the TPS to get rid of pings.

I had the throttle body replaced 18 months ago. It cost a whopping $1302.02

TPS is on the throttle body, facing towards the front cylinder. Now for the bad news; it is preset at the factory, not adjustable at all and should never be removed. If it needs replacement the entire throttle body has to be replaced. Kaw does not even offer the TPS seperately.

How easy is it to change the throttle position sensor, or to adjust it? Then where is it located? That seems to be the source of my problems.
Trying real hard to get it running right.
