For anyone wondering, I found this on PC's facebook page, an update from his mother, Bonnie Carrell.  Hang in there, PC, we're still praying for a full recovery.

Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh. The response and responses on here concerning my son Phil Carrell's accident is nothing less than amazing!! What a wonderful family to be associated with-----we don't all know each other, but we all care about each other. One could not ask for better people to be associated with. Your hearts are in the right places.
NOW FOR PHIL'S UPDATE.
When Andy, Phil's younger brother, and I left to go to the hospital this morning, my car overheated into the red line in nothing flat. I had some 50-50 antifreeze and we put it in the overflow reservoir. When the car had cooled a bit, we continued to Anderson to pick up my husband at the office to continue on to the hospital in Indianapolis. I dropped my car off at Ralph's Auto repair there in Anderson on the way. When we got to the hospital there was confusion as to where Phil was located. We finally were taken to where he was but his wife was not there and Phil had not seen her all morning. Someone thought she might have gone home to get some fresh clothes as she has been staying overnight there at the hospital. Since they had no car there at the hospital, that was an unlikely reason for her being missing. Well, we finally found her in a special room set aside for family members on the floor that they were supposed to take Phil to, except none of us knew which floor he was supposed to go to so had no idea to look for her there. The nurses finally located her and we had the complete family together once again!
The purpose of Phil's surgery this morning was to open up the massive wound and make sure it was clean and looked good. The Drs. were extremely pleased with what they saw. The wound was clean, free of any infections, the outer skin is not dying off and neither is the layer underneath it. What this means, is that if the outer skin does die off in the healing process, the inside layer will be able to grow new replacement skin!! There is no negative reaction to the metal or screws used to mend his bones, the nerves respond to stimulation, and the blood flow is normal. Can you believe this?? Remember, the foot was severed 3/4 of the way. Just imagine how many nerves, vessels, ligaments, tendons, bones, skin, and whatever else there is in there, needed to be reattached to working order by the Drs. They are amazed at the results and reactions of Phil's body to all of this. He continues to breath normally so no more tubes down his throat. They have taken him off of some of the meds that they had him on and the remaining ones are being well tolerated. There's just one that bothers Phil with itching and overheating, but he said that he'd put up with that just to get the results of the meds for less pain. Phil is eating normal food, and keeping the nursing personnel in laughter and happy moods. Guess that's all for tonight. It is 1am and I need to get some sleep. Will talk to you again soon. Bonnie

"No surgery today ...was rescheduled for tomorrow morning. Hopefully Philip can get a decent nights sleep before surgery."
