No buffer just plain elbow grease, if they are small and not too deep it is not that hard a job, I did part of my muffler and my rims and they came out really nice and shiny, but of course I did it during the winter and while watching TV.

The mirrors are 10 mm standard thread. I have a helmet spike on mine that was supposed to be for a GoldWing...same size and thread.

Thank you troll I bought that one.

Ratman, there is a good amount of rust on screw ends, forks and the pipes, most are no bigger then the tip pf a marker but. Also do you do it by hand or with a buffer?

Can you tell me is a mirrors thread style the same? I need to buy a set of mirrors and don't want to buy a wrong set and waste money.

Thanks

Hello, Well as of 5pm central time I drove my 2005 Kawasaki 800 Drifter from the dealership to my house. But not only That but it was this the first trip on my new Drifter but it was the first time I had ridden on a public street with a motorcycle. Yes, I am a newbe but a proud one. But I see now more then every what people talk about, it freedon like you can't describe til you have been for a ride. I know now I was missing something in my life and I just found my new freedom. I have a video of me on my bike i will post a link as soon as i upload it.

Also how do you clean rust spot off your bike and what the part called that holds your front brakes to the handle bar, mine is broken, it can't hold a mirror?
thanks for stopping by!

Those aluminum parts are all over on eBay..pretty cheap, too. Not to worry, it's the same part for all the VN series. Some are polished aluminum, some are black coated. I just picked one at random, there were like 93 of them on eBay, all about the same price. Left or right, they are the same part: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-05-08-KAWASAKI-VULCAN-1500-CLASSIC-VN1500N-MASTER-CYLINDER-MIRROR-MOUNT-/380647518624?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item58a05c31a0&vxp=mtr

Ok first thing first, go and suck a lemon to get that sh8t eating grin off your face for Easter dinner.

ok for rust depending on how much but a piece of tinfoil and a bowl of really warm water and soak the tinfoil in the water for a bit then use it like a rubbing pad.

as for your question look here and see which part you need...

Well, you SHOULD be a HAPPYRIDER!   Congratulations on your new bike, and your new past time!!

As a suggestion -  you should consider taking a rider's safety course.  I took one when I started riding, and it was well worth it.

No Worries
