....I bought from Kuryakyn had a slider sleeve in it, and was a matter of slide off and slide new one on.....

That would explain why I don't recall hacking anything.

bambam0099 are this actual Kuryakyn grips or a knock off? Because the picture looks like it does not have the slider sleeve, were mine I bought from Kuryakyn had a slider sleeve in it, and was a matter of slide off and slide new one on.

I think you nailed it.  These must be knock offs because there is no throttle sleeve and according to Kuryakyn site, the sleeve comes with it

I'm going to write to the vendor and tell them they sent me the wrong grips.

Thanks for all the responses everyone...just glad I didn't cut anything yet!

Throttle side MUST have a sleeve. The grip itself slides over the sleeve, the sleeve slides over the bar.

You can get aftermarket throttle sleeves which will work, but I typically use the existing sleeve. You have to cut the rubber part of the grip without cutting the plastic sleeve underneath.

I have the same iso grips.  I don't remember cutting anything off - pretty sure I still have the original grips intact in a box somewhere.  Doesn't the cap on one of the grip caps have a left hand thread?

I also didn't glue the iso grips on - i've never glued grips on any bike I've had.  Sometimes they move around a bit but not enough to ever cause you any trouble.  If you are seeing to much movement, use a roll of electrical tape to wrap a layer around the bars before putting the grips on.  If you ever have to move the grips - to change bars or ???, you'll be happy you never glued them on.

Here's a tip: when putting on the grips, spray a little Windex inside the grip and on the bar.  They'll slide on like shit through a goose.  The grips will be loose until the Windex evaporates (could take a while so use as little as possible) but after that they will grip just fine.

"The throttle side also has a cap but the grip is glued to a sleeve which floats on the bar. If you plan on using the throttle sleeve, its easier to cut the grip to get to the sleeve."

Ok, so I quess the white wheel is the end of the sleeve according to the above but "cut the grip to get to the sleeve"?  That implies not only the rubber but the grip also.  How do you cut the grip without cutting into the sleeve?  And what are the end caps used for?

I try not to do anything blindly so I'm going to wait until I get a definitive procedure (man, pics would be great!).  Funny, I had the V&H pipes and tips on faster than this :-)

Thanks, I will.  I started but something doesn't look right.  Both of the new grips are exactly the same but the stock throttle has the wheel on the end of the grip where the cables attach.  I can't for the life of me see how the new grip would work without that wheel?

I got these grips but without directions (or glue).  I've looked everywhere for Drifter specific instructions but haven't found any.
I'd really like to take the stock ones off without cutting them or ruining them if possible.
Thanks in advance to all responses.
