In a very dis satisfied note. If you see the chrome tank/cluster cover used to be flat black spray painted.  I tried to use same method of removal as i did there on my head light bucket as it too was blacked out an looked like a richard simmons  flaming fabulous statement! But it melted very literally melted into a deformed ball of nothing ness. So i have a new on coming but seriously grrrrrrrrr!!!!! Sucks to be soo close an yet soo far

Foot ball is not a sport it is a way for other wise brainless jocks to smash into each other play for 30 seconds take a 1-1/2 minute break play for 10 sec9nds 1-1/2 min break lmao. Hockey is crazy none stop action for 20 minutes, fist fights, hard checks slam you into solid ice floor not a plush astro turf. A puck to face means surgery a foot ball hits you in the head an your an idiot bc of the size of the damn ball coning at you at 15mph instead of a puck flying at 50mph. Hockey man sport football= closeted men in spandex hugging each other with very loud groans hahahahahaha but yes with my xbmc reciever I have 4 hockey chanels AND fox sports ice time as for beverages cold beer an buffalo wings I don't like popcorn lol

Yeah that is why I drive a 94 silverado. Push button locks hand crank windows.  Nothing fancy nothing missing I do not need electrical bs going wrong I need reliable powerful transportation. That being said I do build diesel electric locomotives for a living qq an do all the major work on my wife's gas electric prius. I just like the knowing that if my truck needs work it is simple an bc I drive a chevy my truck never needs work lmao

A person can't have all the skill; we all eventually run into something we just can't do well. I have the utmost respect for people who know how to paint and to do it well. I can paint, but not well. I would never attempt to paint my own bike or vehicle; just would not be able to do a nice job, so if it is something I want nice, off to a buddy who is real good. As to wrenching, I have been doing all my own work for too many years to count; that being said, these new vehicles where it is a computer on wheels, with miles of wiring with ma and mv, forget it. That is what the dealers are for, and the guys(like Troll and GB) who have the required expertise to do such work.

So, I guess the point of this whole diatribe is to say "good on you" for doing all your own work restoring your Drifter. You will be understandably proud of your accomplishment. And hats off to the rest of you out there in Drifterland who are accomplished "do-it-yourselfers".

I can't paint... I've tried, just won't work, but I do most of my own mechanical work. Nobody to blame but myself for mistakes...

Thabks guys. Yeah I learned the hard way with my meanstreak 1600 paid $700 to habe it painted an when I got it back. The guy put tye fuel tank on incorrectly so the fuel return line was hooked to the vapor line I flooded the engine going down the highwaybin my furst 5 miles to the point of hydro lock an all the guy had to say was im not a mechanic!!!!?! by the time I got a lawyer involved he had 30 people sueing him an come to find out he put all his shop account bs in his dying mother in laws name so no one ever got compensated. Fucking douche bag. So this time it is all on me for $300 an hope for the best

You can never get quality work like that taking a bike to some hack shop.  Doing it yourself, for someone with the right skills, will guarantee to get exactly what you want and you know that no corners were cut in the process.
