My Dad would do that. Sit on the handlebars facing backwards, and pedal around the yard. NOT a good thing to be teaching the grandkids...... and he was in his 70's when he showed us that trick. Said him and his friends would do that for blocks at a time when they were kids. Yeesh.

I guy at my work went dark side on his Vulcan last year and loves it.  Says it corners a little different but didn't take long to get used to it.  Plans on keeping the bike dark sided as long as he owns it.

Reminds me of the guy who always rode his bike turned backwards. He loved it and said he'd never ride a bike any other way.

Riding a bike is a dangerous past time... why make it even more dangerous. AND, those elements do nothing for the look or performance of the machine.

I'd like to get him and his bike into an ERC class...Can you imagine him trying to do a figure 8 inside a rectangle 60' by 27' ???? By the way, that's with NO FEET ON THE GROUND!!!!, or perhaps the one handed 20' weave?

Would you be talking about the infamous box drill?

Some people like to stand out.....but when he is in a wreck because of his tires or windshield, it will be all about being someone elses fault....guys like that are never wrong....

I just spent a couple of hours cutting down my "clear" windshield b/c I couldn't stand it being too high.  I can't imagine something black like that.  I took a test drive with the protective tape and paper I put on there to cut it, and was thinking "this sucks, can't see anything up close to the bike".  How terrible is that black thing?  It looks cool from the front, but I can't imagine using it.

No Worries

Have to agree with because I can not think of a law that you can say" But Officer it is allowed in my area"

only one I can come close to is the studded tires here. In Ontario studded tires are only allowed on cars that are from North of Powassan. So if you have an address north of there and get pulled over in Toronto for having studded tires your ok, but they have to be off the car by April 1st.

Ya know, I keep trying to remind people there are motor vehicle laws that can come down on you like a ton of bricks if you get the right cop...but nobody seems to believe it. I'm ALWAYS sure I'm in compliance especially when crossing State lines...I really don't need the kind of crap you can get into if you get busted for something stupid when you're 1000 miles from home!

I never started a discussion with him about his signal lights because the law in Ontario is,

(g) one amber turn signal lamp at or near the front on each side and one red or amber turn signal lamp at or near the rear on each side.

(2)  The lamps and reflectors referred to in subsection (1) shall meet the standards set out in Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108 under the Motor Vehicle Safety Regulations (Canada).

so his smoked lens covers are not correct either, but then who is going to argue with you, if you ride as Pc said blindfolded

The car tire?  I can take it or leave it.

The self imposed blindfold?  That has to go!  (I guess you're looking over the shield anyways, but yeah......)

I attended a Charity Ride today, and it was in my mind funny how 49 started a discussion on car tires on bikes and such, because there was a gentleman there today with a Yamaha something I tried to get a decent look at it but he seemed to not like cameras. But if you were standing about close to him he was overly proud to have installed a car tire on his bike, I do know that his bike was obnoxiously loud. I listened to him for a bit to see if I could understand his logic, now I am not planning on it nor think I would do it, but my little 800 might have a hard time pushing a car tire and my large butt along the hwy. But anyway anytime some one asked him a question he directed them to go to http://darkside.nwff.info/......ok.....
after checking out his bike and his windscreen I think now know enough......why anyone would ride with a black slab in front of them is beyond my intelligence.

Sorry Chief, thought it was you testing me to see if I was listening ......
