Check the other end of the ground wire going from the battery to the block.  That was my problem.

Battery??!!   I had a similar problem - battery checked fine but under load (cranking) it would simply click, click, click.

Have you done ANY work on the bike of any sort? - As Troll indicates, that loose/disconnected clutch switch has hit many of us...

Check the cable connection at the clutch switch. This little devil has given lots of people fits...For some reason, the wires get pulled loose just enough to cause the problem. Push the connector back tight and all will be well

My 2001 drifter will not start. when u turn on the key everything works like it should but every time I hit the start button it just relay just click under the gas tank. but that's it but u can jump start it at the starter solenoid it will start so I replaced it with a new starter solenoid n still doing the same this
