I was planning to put some tools on the bike- wrenches & sockets that might be needed by me or someone else.  Thought I'd put them in my new handy-dandy HD toolbox.

I'm organizing a ride to the Dragon for Wed. morning. I have been corresponding with WolfChief, and he suggested adding a loop for the trip back...Here's the map I created based on his suggestions...Sooooo right now, there are 7 going, anybody else?

This is a great loop to ride also ..19 to 28 to 129 to parkway foothills then 321 to wears valley rd (cades cove) to 441 thru pigeon forge, Gatlinburg to Cherokee to MV about 190 miles...

Sooooo, I'm getting things sorted for the trip, and I'm thinking about what kind of tools, if any, and spares to bring. I don't have the factory tool kit, and the one for the W doesn't have enough of the correct sizes to be of any use. I've decided to bring a test light, electrical tape screwdriver set, a long 5mm Allen wrench, so I can pop off my windshield, and, and a few sockets in appropriate sizes, tire pressure gauge, tread depth gauge, inspection mirror so I can check the oil (don't need to bring extra oil, it's not my Harley)...wait, how old are the bulbs? As far as I know, the bulbs, except for the license lamp are all original...I have some left over stuff from all my H-Ds...no way I could have ridden one of those without replacing the headlight at least once...so 1 spare 2057 for the tail light, 1 194 for the license lamp, and one spare H-4 55/60 for the headlight...I'm not going to bother with the turn signal bulbs, since you can always hand signal....What are you guys bringing???

Yeah, got a flashlight, and extra batteries both for it and for the 3 cameras I taking....If my past history with this bike is any judge, I won't need any of it...

I think you pretty much have it covered...I like to pack a flashlight or a strap headlamp. Some extra fuses, & wire ties.

This will be the first Drift In My wife Heidi and I will have attended since 09 in Cherokee. Since that Drift I had a stroke and have recovered to the point I can ride o k and Heidi now has an 800 Drifter She will be riding in. We are arriving on 8-12-14 and leaving 8-17-14. We are staying at The Creekside  Lodge and looking forward to seeing everyone. Making new friends and seeing familiar faces.

Hey troll  I will be hiking in Gatlinburg mon and tues. I would like to make the run to the tail of the dragon wed  if it is still on.

As far as I know, nobody has backed out, yet. I'm figuring we should leave by 09:00, so we have enough time to do it twice and have lunch, and maybe hit the museum that afternoon...or maybe the museum on Thurs. morning...

06:00 Monday for me, expecting to arrive at GreenBarn's house by 17:00 or so, then Tuesday morning, no later than 07:00.

Tuesday and I will be leaving in the wee hours of Tuesday morning.  When I told her we would be leaving at 3am, she balked at that quite a bit, and is pushing to leave later.  My thing is I don't want to roll in to MV later than 5 or 6pm.  I need time to stop for rest breaks, fuel, food, and maybe a quick nap.

I'm envious of all you folks heading for Maggie Valley. Maybe next year; I have something going on this year that trumps a bike run....even a Drifter run!!!

I have it partly packed, already. Wake up? I don't think I'll sleep on the 10th...I never could before a trip since I was a little kid....

  Well, I kinda screwed myself out of riding the Drifter until the 11th when I leave for Maggie Valley...All the prep and maintenance is done, so I ran a couple of errands around town, and low and behold, as I turned into my alley, the odometer turned 87,500!!! Some kind of an omen or sign...don't know if it's bad or good, so I'll have to ride the W for the rest of the week...such a sad state of affairs!

OK, then....glad to hear you're going to make it after all! We, (GreenBarn and I) will be in late afternoon on Tuesday (depending on how many times we stop) It's about 450 from his house....See ya in a WEEK!!!!!

hello!!! LOL heck yea....... probably will ride it a couple of times I had rather do it than the BlueRidge...we rode it last year....not impressed at all.....
