I have a 12" high apehang, widened to 41,5", and I love it. It looks great on the bike and the bike handles very easy!

did you need to lenghthen cables on your 12" apes? and are they on the stock risers?

I'm sorry...handlebars are an essential control device. Apehangers are a fashion statement...Why not put a welded chain steering wheel on, then? I will change my mind when I see Valentino Rossi's Yamaha with them....

The Drifter with it's vintage Indian Chief design is a classic as is and why would someone want to install Apehangers on this vintage style? For some reason it just looks great!

I had the 12" wide Z bars on my Classic and plan on putting the same ones on my new Drifter. I found they were perfect for my height and build, 6'3, with a 32" inseam, best part is staing at 12" I didn't have to extend cables, just reroute and 12" on stock risers should keep you away from any issues with handlebar height in your province.

If you do this mod, post some pics i would like to see it happen!

Hi silverback just seen this post here is a photo of my ride, I am running with 22" apes and love them. When i bought the bike she came with the apes and a set of flat bars it was my intention to run the flats and source some beach bars (have done) but I have to say that I just love my apes and this is the only bike I've ridden with them fitted. I did the Faro rally in Portugal last year and covered 3000 miles without problem, they are so comfortable. I have booked for the Faak am See  bike week in Austria this year and plan on approx 2400 miles in all doing much more mountain routes than Spain and Portugal allowed. One thing I must point out is that if you want to tramp on a bit say 70 and a bit you will want make a few more breaks over the ride due to the "barn door effect" but this is not a problem. If you like me ride a cruiser to cruise then you will love apes

Hey Silver,
Search 'Drifter' in Colorado Springs craigslist.
There is a guy selling a black and silver 800 with apes.
He has 4 or 5 pics posted.

Happy Hunting!

could i ask for pics please of the few members to post pics and opinions of there ape-hangers on there drifters.
I'm interested in putting on a set of 12" rise 34" wide zbar style apes and was wondering what people thought of apes on these bikes control wise vs stock or the beachbars that allot are opting for as well.
