Yeah Chief, I decided that was the case. So, I'm hoping that the correct tension for engine mounts, bladder mount, and exhaust arm (all now 15 ft lb), will resolve the issue.

Time will tell  :-\

Wait... you have the original goat bladder equipped exhaust on your bike? If so, that is already rubber mounted. Doing anything with the footpeg is superfluous. You have a different problem.

Duh  :-[
After checking out the article, I discovered that my original exhaust is rubber mounted by the support bar below the footpeg mounting. Ao , have torqued the engine mounts to 15 ft lbs and will see how things go now.

I had forgotten Troll's post too.  Glad to see that one come back up now- I'm getting ready to check out my 1500 here pretty soon, and that's one of the things I wanted to check.

This was Ratman's post I was thinking of.

Troll - I don't feel so bad that I couldn't find it now.

Chief - I did find that "T mount" one in the Mods section, but as long as I retain the OEM exhaust, I will use W650 parts as per Troll's fix.

Thanks to all.  :)

I used this as a tip when I could not figure out the humming noise on my bike when I first bought it, and rubber mounted the wind screen also and have no humming since. So it does work.......

I did it. I added rubber Kawasaki mounts from a W650. I can't find the thread, either....but here's some of the pictures...Worked out really well. I had that pipe on for more than 20,000 miles and no cracking at the mount or anywhere else. You DO need to space the peg mount out to match the rubber thickness, and use carbon steel bolts. I used stainless at first, but they are too flexible and introduced a harmonic...I still have the pipe, and someday I might put it back on...

I'm thinking that was Ratman's mod on his 800, but I'm not certain.

Hi all,

Exhaust has cracked again where baffle meets pipe.
Have searched the 1500 forum and Mods/Tips but can't find the blog I want.

Rather than using a Classic right passenger peg - someone here had modded the original bracket
to use rubber inserts.

As I'm keeping the original muffler, this is what I'd like to do. Anyone know the name of the post?
Thanks Paul
