Thanks, we warmed it pretty good and checked the oil. It does get louder under acceleration. By using a yard stick to the ear method we determined the knock was coming from behind a cover on the right lower side of the engine. I am sure it is not an octane knock.

Vulcan engines can be a bit loud especially when cold. Knocking can come from a lot of things.

Do yourself a favor and find ANY 1500/1600 Vulcan and listen to it to determine if the knock is out of line with a known good engine. Make sure the engine is warmed up and has they both are using the same octane fuel as well. Most Drifter run better with premium fuel. I won't cite octane numbers, there is a long story to octane requirements.

I found a 1500 I am interested in but while running there is a knock in the lower part of the engine. Is there any thing in the trans or clutch that knock,,,is there any history of low end problems with this bike?
Thanks,
Paul
