Now that's cool DC ! The only problem is I'm unskilled in the fabrication field and my mods resources are very limited :-\
Hey Troll could you imagine me with sound effects hooked up with this baby during rush hour in NY . Man that would sure clear a path or get me locked up ? Either or I would enjoy the hell out of it  :D ;)

ok the bombs on the front forks would be cool, but they have to have the fins in the back rotate.....lol.....ok nothing covering the rear fender your right that is why I do not have bags on my bike either, the holster does add to the looks of the ARMY bike.......

Here's one with the ammo cans and Jim and his scoot . He did all the mods himself and man it looks fantastic !

Funny you mention that Ratman . A guy I met named Jim while dealing with Singh for the new seats ended up doing his 1500 series Army style and did a hell of a job , I might add . He has the gun scabbard and did the rear rack identical to the old military scoots . I'll try to see if I can post a pic of his . I really don't want to cover the rear fender on mine so the ammo cans are out for now at least . However , my cousin who is good with photo shop program did this for me . After the grenades are done I want to do so type of bombs as added running lights . Check this out .

Grenade mirrors, red dash lights, roadhouse exhaust, pipes blackened, this machine is looking more period correct and will be the envy of all 800's in the Empire state for sure.....we just need to find the front fender holster, and a couple of ammo boxes for saddle bags

I'll have to see how much the replica grenades weigh and go from there DC . If need be maybe we can up with a way to hollow them out a smidge . Although the vibration damper wouldn't be a bad thing . I'm hoping with the new road house exhaust I relieve a lot of vibration I have know due to the straight pies I run on the scoot . Never the less the new exhaust should make the neighbors happier  ;D

Do you think?  I figured by the time you cut them in half, then they wouldn't be all that heavy.  Just think of them as vibration dampers... 8)

No Worries

DC

I'm thinking those grenade halves need to be hollowed out big time, to reduce the weight.  Those are pretty heavy.  I'm imagining that weight on the ends of the bars.

John Hopkins

I wonder if it is possible to get the grenade mirrors ceramic coated to match the new exhaust..you might have to find a way of unscrewing the mirror section from the stem, grenade section first so they can be fired..Or maybe make the grenade section 'clip on' so that you can refit them on replacement mirrors when you need them..

John.

Moose Wayne , I jumped on the exhaust like white on rice ! I was a little hesitant with all the dam scams going on now a days but , am stoked on this find ! Now once I get the grenades and shipped out to Greenbarn the scoot will be coming together as I imagined .

KW , dude I say that's an awesome find and cheap as hell to boot ! Hey I have one of those Indian fender lights brand new in the box . I was going to mount it and placed it on the fender to see how it looked . Looked great and the colors matched the bike well being it's chrome and has black highlights in the Indian head dress . After farther consideration I decided against the install due to the simple fact it really didn't go with my theme . I'll sell it to you for cost and shiping if interested just pm me .

Drfit1: No highway pegs on my engine guard....not a highway peg rider.
On the speedo housing....just replaced the original chrome one (2002) with a black one from a 2000 in an effort to tone down the chrome on the bike. 2002 paint is black, so housing fit right in. Bought the housing with speedo complete in perfect shape and working for under $100. Speedo only had 800 or so more miles than my original...so good to go there too.

OTHER: Someone was talking about "small" indian fender lights. Anybody got one...what does it look like?

moosewayne

Hey Drift1,
I saw that eBay ad as well!  I ride a 1500 otherwise I'd have been all over that like stink on a monkey.
Really glad for you!!

Drift1

Greenbarn you have a deal ! I was hoping to have them slightly larger then the actual grenade but , hey I'll deal with this look till I find someone that is able to do that . Yes I know someone in town that can weld for me .

KW man the feeling was awesome !! Those hard to find items and the ones you can't find all these fabricators to make drive me insane LOL ." Like I need help in that dept. " What was the issue with the speedo that you needed another ? Honestly the speedo glass itself on mine looks like it get wet at one time and never dried on the inside of the glass . I thought I could just unscrew the glass but , guess not . For $300 dollars for a new one I'll hold off on that project . Hey did you ever get foot pegs installed on your front bar ? If so post a pic .

Ratman , the only saws I own are chainsaws and there for remolding the house for the miss's . OOOOHHHH yeeeeaaaaaa !!!! How do you think I get off the hook so easy around here ? Reminds me of the time she asked me to wash the dishes . Know keep in mind there's two jobs that I hate to do . 1) is painting 2) You guessed washing dishes . Ever since early child but I think what sent me over the edge was KP in the military at boot camp back in 1990 . So any who , she asked me yrs ago to wash the dish's what a mistake that was on her part . It just so happened to be raining that day (remember this like it just happened ) so I took all the dishes that were in the sink and set them outside in the garbage can with the lid off . Purposely placed the garbage can int he walk way so she could have a gander when she arrived back home . So she asked and of course I explained this was just he soaking procedure ........need less to say I was never asked to wash another thing since  ;D ;)

Just thinking (no comments from the peanut gallery, Ratman) ....

GreenBarn off the lottery list now and back on the swimsuit list.....

kw you are so right, still looking for folding rear floorboards at a price that will not put me in the poor house.  I have Roadhouse and I think they sound just bang on, not loud enough to bother the neighbours but has that throaty sound in town and the highway, and on the highway I do not need to wear ear plugs, to avoid going deaf at the end of the day ride......and I can hear my music in my ear speakers in my helmet. I really like the corrugated look too. Another thing to be on the look out for.

Drift1: Nicely done. Like the rest, I know how good it feels to find that one hard part you are looking for and get it for a reasonable price. You can't always win, but nice once and awhile. My finds were osprey/traveler brackets for my solo seat and a "00 black speedo housing with cover plate in perfect shape.
Good luck with the exhaust. Will be envious like the rest of the 800 riders. Suggest you do a video. I'd like to hear that exhaust. Which version of it did you find? Did you also snatch the old school corrugated pipes between the muffler and the engine? Looking forward to the pics.

greenbarn

Sounds almost too good to be true....  'course we haven't seen any pics yet...

So if you like the grenade cut in half idea, ship me 2 grenades and I can see to it that you get 4 halves mailed to your house....  we can worry about the fees later.... You got somebody local that can weld them?

No Worries

CDNRatMan

;)  ok let us muddy the waters a bit here, you take one grenade and you use a band saw and cut it in half, body moulding trim to cover the cut area's and make it look right, powder coat them black or even green to match the bike and to make them original colour, epoxy in a mirror that any decent glass shop can cut to fit or be inserted. does not seem to be too much of a chore. Drifter1 I think this is well with in your ability, and you can either DIY or get someone to help you with it.

Drift1

Thanks all ! As many of you know I've been looking for this exhaust for some time now . I thought I would never find one . 49 ohhhhh how sweeeettt it is ;)

Greenbarn , I stumbled on the exhaust searching EBAY . The reason I say stumbled on is this . Oh yea there's a story behind this so I'll do my best to keep it short  ::)
So I'm trying to find the rotor covers and I'm scrolling down the listings and there's a pic of a bike with the roadhouse exhaust installed with the oem exhaust laying in front . The seller had the oem listed for sale so for some odd reason I click on the link not to purchase the oem of course being I just sold mine during the past winter . Anyway I'm reading the gentlemens post and alllllll the way on the bottom in fine print reads : may also be willing to sell the roadhouse exhaust for a reasonable offer . Man I couldn't email this guy fast enough . Surprisingly John responds right back with his phone # so I call and offer him $350 . He says it's a deal ! Now I have to be quite honest , I would have paid a ton more if need be that's how badly I wanted this exhaust  8) . End of the short version ..... LOL
Those pineapple grenades are exactly the ones I want for the mirrors . Unfortunately I don't have the means to split them in half but , that route has crossed my mind as well .

DC no pics of this on any other bike it's just an idea I had came up with .

PC how you been " Pastor Dude " ? Seems you've been missing as well . Summer months just don't have enough hours in the day any more . And NO it's not something that happens as you get older there my good O'L pal Ratman . I know your tin foil hat was probably lighting up for a comment  ;D

Guys sorry no pics of the exhaust at this time as I just came back from dropping it off to be ceramic coated but , definitely will take some off the finished product !

.... about making me a set of custom grenade mirrors with no luck thus far  ??? I started this quest there about July.

Just thinking (no comments from the peanut gallery, Ratman) ....

You want a "Custom" mirror - What if you were to take an army surplus decommissioned grenade (available 10 bucks at a gun show) and cut it in half with a band saw/ sawsall, then fashion a mounting stem (this could be from any mirror that bolts on your ride), welded to said half-grenade, then afix the mirror glass to the flat side of said half-grenade, fabricate some sort of trim to cover the edges, and there you go.

Easier said than done, I know, but sounds do-able.  This would work maybe if you're wanting black mirrors, but would be an ordeal to get chromed.  You would need 2 grenades so that you would have a detonator/handle assembly for each one.

No Worries

pcarrell

Congrats on finding the exhaust Richie!  If I see any mirrors I'll let you know.
