gold fren makes kevlar/ceramic pads for the drifter 1500...i have them on the rear of my bike.

Just wanted to update everyone as promised.Well I'm at 900 miles and I can not believe how minimal the dust is on my rims.I have to actually get down up close to notice.There's none on the white walls thus far.I'm heading to Americade tomorrow morning witch is approximately 200 miles one way for me so this trip will break the 1,000 mile mark for me on this update.So far I have nothing but, positive opinion on these ceramic brakes.....as you can tell.Will keep reporting back on this subject.

Just wanted to update everyone on these ceramic pads that i bought from,"Lost In The Fifties."
Yesterday I went on a 120 mile run due to the georgous weather we had.They seem to be working very well so far.Now I don't know if it's because of the immaculate cleaning job I performed over the winter with the bike torn apart or just not enough time on these brakes yet but,there is absoulutely "NO" brake dust at all on my new www's.I'm very pleased about this.I'll keep this thread running as I put more miles on them so my fellow Drifters have feed back.

I probably use my brakes less than some others, I don't do a lot of stop start town riding, since I retired I use the open road, a gentle touch of the front here and there as I coast to a stop..On the highway, once again due to the fact that I can chose my time to ride, I keep a six second space between me and the vehicle in front, changing lanes if it gets too crowded so when it comes time to change the pads or shoes I usually google the bike model and brake pads and pick the best price for the same item..I have never used ceramic but probably will next time..

I'm a big fan of ceramic pads on cars/trucks. I have an auto repair shop and use  ceramics whenever they are offered. They should last as long or longer. However on the drifter the only ceramics I found were brands I didn't know. I decided to stick with a major name. Brakes are critical. I suspect if the ceramics are not lasting as long it could be due to a cheaper brand? Interesting.

Thanks for the info guy's,like I said I should be recieving them sometime next week being I placed the order a few days ago.The price was reasonable imop at $32 for both sets (front&back)I'll keep everyone posted in the spring with some feed back.

PC I have been ordering misc. parts (nuts,bolts etc.)and been comparing the prices between Bike Bandit,Ron Ayer's and Chapparell and so far believe it or not Chapparell has been cheaper $1+ on each part so far.....like I said though,that was just small things,not sure on bigger purchases.......just wanted to share that info.

Those prices are from Ron Ayers (http://www.ronayers.com/Fiche/TypeID/26/Type/Motorcycle/MakeID/3/Make/Kawasaki), who is pretty darn good on pricing as far as I've found.

A front rotor runs about $230 and the rear is about $175 on a 1500.

I run ceramics on all of my applications. They work better and run cleaner. I hate black brake dust. Rotors are cheap these days. Although I haven't had to replace my bike rotors yet.

I've been doing reading lately about the ceramic brake pads since purchasing the www's.Main reason being trying to find a way to try to keep them clean and less maint.I know a fella named CPT.CONCH posted putting these on his drifter back in 2011.Seems they had been working out for him cutting down on a lot of the break dust issues.I'm wondering since his experience with the ceramic,has anyone else tried them out.If so what's the pro's and con's on installing them.Being I had my rear tire off just as early as this morning and figured changing the brakes as well only made since at this time I put on a new pair I had on hand.However I ordered both the front and rear set today so I will have them in time for when I get around to changing the front tire and brakes.Any feed back on your experience with the ceramic pads would be greatly aprecciated as well as opinions.Thank you fellow drifters in advance.
