Here's a pic. From this angle, the bars look like they are totally U-shaped. They aren't, it's just the camera angle.

I checked the part number on the bars. They are pn#650-08753. I got em from Dennis Kirk for $120.

Thanks. Yeah, I'll get some pics up when I'm done. Yes, the Flander's H2 with the knurling, (I'll have to double check the part #), is the one I got in chrome. I am internally wiring the bars, so I have to drill some holes for that. I got some grommets to place in the holes after I de-burr them to give it that OEM look and protect the wires. I also have to run some stainless mesh sleeving on the wires that plug into the clutch and the front brake sensor and then on the wires as they join together at the bottom of the bars. I have chosen some white rubber coke bottle grips ala 1930's-1940's. The look is pure retro. The bars themselves are roughly 1/2" lower, 4" wider, and 3" further back. I had to go +4" over stock on the push/pull throttle cables as well.

I was thinking of doing the same thing but it would have to wait 'til next year as I have already spent my quota of mods for this year. Did you get the H2 with metric knurls, part# 650-08753? I have an '02 1500 and when you talk about extending the cables does the '99 also have the hydraulic clutch assist system? Not sure what other items other than cables and electrical that would be an issue? Would love to see some pics when you're done. I think those long grande beach bars would really give it that retro look. Please keep us informed of your progress and any issues that you face, really appreciated! Don't forget the pics . . .

Take care,

Pete

I'm in the middle of installing some Flander's Grande Beach bars.  I thought I could get away with using stock cables and grips simply by re-routing everything....guess again. If anyone is interested, I had to go +6" over stock on my front brake cable, +4" over stock on my clutch cable, and I'm internally wiring my handlebars and will be soldering in a 10" extension just to be safe. There's a guy with an eBay store called 4Rcustoms who is based in MA and has all the factory colors in our harnesses. I asked him if he would make me a 10" harness and he did. $12.95 shipped, I couldn't believe it. These kits for Harley can go for $50. BTW, the bars look the mutt's nuts and they're super comfy if you ride on a Corbin seat which moves you down and back.
