The 1500 has a tab towards the back of the right frame rail, but none on the left.  I can get you some measurements if you like.

Mine has a tab on both sides; I made my adapter to hang from these tabs.

there is a tab hanging down on both sides, again a problem is i have never seen a 1500 in person, but when I contated the people who made the other adapters they told me it would not fit an 800. I sent emails to a lot of lift companies and got the same response. If I had a 1500 colse by I could check the measurements....

Does the 800 have a tab hanging down off of the frame like the 1500, or is the bottom of the frame smooth from front to back on both sides?  Hard to tell from the pics.....

CDNRatMan

Yes I asked around, sorry now that I never kept the emails or the info collected but I have as of yet have to find a kit/adapter for the 800 once I get mine done and working I'll check it against the one there and see if the mesurments fit. Also I personal do not like the frame sitting on that small bit of metal...if you wrench hard or move the wrong way the bike can slide off the lift...not a good thing if you live alone....

I wasn't aware that the first one in that link wouldn't work for an 800.

Yes seen them and asked around and seems that is for the 1500, not the 800 Drifter. also the frame is sitting on the small part and does not seem stable if you are going to working on it......jmo.

Ooooooh...acorn nuts and nylon washers...must be the expensive model. I got mine at Sam's club for $100 about 15 yrs. ago...no fancy fittings, just 1/2" bolts with plain nuts....not even any washers..

;) Sorry but never looked up under your 1500 so not sure.

Drift1 here is were I am now, I picked up 2x2x14" sq tubing and 2x2x14" angle iron, the angle iron is a great fit, the sq tubing proved to be too high, and even if someone were to hold the bike upright it still is a really hard fit, so I am going to go with a 1" flat stock and see if that will work for me. I did some as a mock up and once it is welded I'll epoxy some rubber inside the angle iron to protect the frame.
You can also see the cut out for the joint on the left side of the machine is there and it fits nice and tight. Good thing is I have at least 2 months to do this, have it for March so I can have the bike ready for the spring and time to ride so I can take my time and make it work right......if all else fails call one of my USAF buddies and have him ship me a Black widow lift.......$69.99 is not that bad......

There's a lot for a jack to clear on a 1500 too.

CDNRatMan

here are some pictures of the underside of the 800 Drifter.

1. left side of bike and the tab and the round part of the frame. interfere.

2. This is the mono shock and not a lot of room between it and the swing arm frame

3. You see the engine is hanging lowwr then the frame

4. From the other side
