800 Classic & Drifter gearing for interstate speeds

I run an 18 and 38 front and rear and noticed a significant difference.  Not quite sure about gas mileage yet as I have yet to run it a ton because it's been out of commission due to my neglect last winter.

As you can see, the final drive gearing is slightly different between the two bikes.

I do know my sprockets are stock replacments and the rear is a 40 tooth one.

I have on occassion run 110 kms for about 4 hours and never had any problems but I can not do the conversion in my head right  now....

my drifter has never sounded like it was revving too high.

Hello, one of my riding buddies runs a 800 Classic.
He used to run stock gearing, but changed to a rear sprocket 1 tooth different, he says it improved the 2 up running at 75-80mph greatly. By dropping his rpm some..

After following him for over 200 miles (50 miles at 75-80mph)
The rest at 55-65mph on secondary roads some straight and somy twisty and some hilly.

I think he is running too high an rpm at 75-80 (where he likes to run the interstate)
It just sounds like he is at the upper end of the rpm range, it sounded like it would be happier about 200 -300 rpm lower.  But it just might be me.
I could not imagine what it would sound like with another 150lbs. On the bike at that speed.(2 up)

On the back roads it sounder much happier in top gear, like it was not trying near as hard..

So my question is is the Drifter gearing any different from the Vulcan classic 800 gearing?
What front/rear sprocket combo do some of you 800 drifter guys run?
Do any of you run 75+mph on a regular basis?

On our ride, he lead most of it, while me on my 1500, and our 3rd rider on his road king, we're just easing along, at 80, while his 800 sounded like it was all it could do to set the pace?.

Oh he is computer illiterate, so I share info from this board with him all the time..
