Thanks for the update. I have a wire feed just for small jobs like that so not a problem. The original post in the mods/tips section doesn't mention any of that. Also wonder if maybe the parts changed. I have also thought about getting the whole new set for the bagger Nomad and the selling my used pipes to off set the cost. So with your info, might make sense to do that.

Hi Cincydrifter99, I just finished that mod. Haven't even painted the bracket yet. FYI, when I did mine, if I used all the parts as is, the left pipe was too close to the bike in comparison, and too far back by about 2". Also, the crossover pipe sat about 1/2" from the rear tire; too close in my opinion. The first thing I did was make the muffler bracket so the muffler hung exactly the same as the right side muffler. The next step was modifying the rear head pipe to line up to the muffler. The rear head-pipe is manufactured in 2 pieces and welded together; I cut it apart at that weld, removed 1 1/4" and cut the crossover under where the left heat-shield sits. I mounted the head-pipe just snug enough so it would sit by itself, but could still be moved; then lined up the cut pieces and tack welded them in place on the bike; then removed the part, and welded it on the bench. Note: when welding on the bike, put the ground clamp as close to the weld as possible; this prevents the electrical current from traveling through the bike. I welded my head pipe together with a wire feed; if you have access to a TiG welder that might be your best choice. By doing the mod this way, the pipes hand perfectly to each other. I'm not sure if the person who posted this mod originally had these line up issues or not; is article in the mods/tips section didn't mention it. I hope my rambling on here is of help; good luck and keep us posted.

FYI, when I  ordered a set of Longshots for my 1500 Drifter today, I was told by the dealer that Vance and Hines is discontinuing the Longshots for the Drifter. Also, if anyone is looking to convert their Longshots to "true duals" (one down each side) as per the posting in the Mods/Tips section, here are the V&H part #'s needed:

K-305 F (V&H rear head pipe for V&H bagger duals for Nomad)   V&H price: $71.05

K-301 HC (Right-side rear head pipe heat shield)                        V&H Price: $53.85

K-302 HC (Left-side heat shield for exhaust elbow)                     V&H Price: $54.78
