Rear Turn Signal wiring

Front signals are probably not flashing because of the missing rear turn signal load. Have you tried hooking the frame up to a 12 volt battery? Just to insure it is working. Pos to the wire on the frame, neg to the metal frame. If it lights by doing this, then either there is no power at the bikes wiring or a connection somewhere is faulty.

Do you have a DVOM?

I looked at the V-Twin site for this plate frame, it is led so chances are once you do get it working you will need a load equalizer to get it to flash correctly.

I didnt test the license plate, I don't have a 12 volt battery (yet). I would be very pissed if after all this the plate was bad. If my front turn signals light as well as everything else is it safe to assume that the fuse isnt blown. I would need to remove my bags and other stuff just to get my seat off to get to the fuse box. I also ran the ground back to the license plate bolts. For all I know that plate isnt a good ground which could also be the problem.

Well I wired the other side and still nothing. In fact my front signals light but don't flash.  Whatdoes that mean?

That's the wiring plan I will try. Did one side then the heat got me so I'll hit the other side shortly. I have no idea how these will look or work. My only other option is to buy short stalk signals. Hopefully my saddlebags won't distroy them.

There are only 2 wires? No way 2 wires will give you both turn signals and plate light; you have to have at least 3 wires to do that! This unit did not come with any wiring diagram?

Each side has one wire.
The stock signals have 2 wires on each side. So Im assuming the black wire is the ground for each side. I'll run the hot line on each side to the single line on each side of the plate then run a line from each side of the ground back to a screw on the plate.

The problem is probably an incomplete circuit. The drifter fender is plastic, and the turn signals are wired, as is the tail light, through the common plug on the left side. the power wires and the grounds actually run to the main harness through the junction block. Your new license plate uses a ground from the METAL fender it would be mounted on, and the wires it has are all power. You need to supply a ground for the plate, and then it should work

The new license plate has one wire on each side. There are 2 wires for the stock turn signals. I assume one is hot and the other ground. I tried each wire alone to the one license plate wire without luck. Maybe I'll try wiring one to the ground.
Assuming I didnt blow the fuse yet.

Factory turn signal has a hot lead and ground lead, on my 99 the ground lead is black with a yellow stripe. left turn is green, right is green with a yellow stripe. Not knowing how many wires you have on the new setup but there has to be more than 1. I believe somewhere you will need to have at least 4 connections or wires; 1 left turn, 1 right turn, 1 plate light and a ground.

just wire all the grounds together and connect to the new ground. If no seperate ground is on ths new fixture, hook wires to a metal part on the new plate frame

My new saddlebags knocked off my rear turnsignals. I purchased a new license plate with turn signals built in. I pulled the two wires through the old housing. The new plate only has one wire. Now:
when I turn my key on the turn signal indicator on the dash doesnt light. When I connect either of the 2 existing wires to my one wire on the new plate nothing happens.
Is the fuse for the rear turnsignals dedicated? All my other lights work fine. I assume if I connect the new license plate to a 12 volt source I should be able to confirm that the problem isnt with the plate (before sending it back). Would this be a correct assumption?
