in the spirit of full disclosure -

A couple days ago, i noticed a "new sound" that sort of sounded like clutch spring rattle -- it went away -- was riding yesterday, and it became BAD -- so bad i pulled over --- and using the "what did i change last" principal, i put hard pressure on the screen, and the sound went away .. let go, it came back -   i popped off the windscreen -- sound went away -- remounted, which took all of 10 seconds, which seemed to put a bit lower on the taper - no more problem

in short, if you hear grinding/growling after doing this, pop the screen off then on quickly and see if it gets better

Hey thanks for telling us how that went. I'm glad it worked out. I'm glad you got rid of the Harley logo too  ;)

I bought a VRSCF Quick-Release Compact Mid-Sport Windshield, Harley Part Number 57610-09 - used, that went right on my 800 - the purchase did not include 2 pieces, called "Screw, snap socket, windshield mount (2) 57619-09" which would have made this a perfect fit - i just temp used some 1/2 "sharkbite" water line from home depot, which i cut to length, drilled a hole in the side, and tied in with black zips, to see if i like it.

I have a OEM wiindscreen, that works great, but it's getting into the 90s in Texas, and I wanted more wind than OEM, but less than "neeked" - so, for $50 i picked up a used one - works GREAT -- wind hits about chin level, but works well - good handling, good bug proofing, and looks pretty good - I removed the harley logo, though, on the top "strap" and will take a grinder and flatten that down to be straight, rather than Harley shaped.

(with alignment adjustment) The clamps worked GREAT, i suggest putting them up towards the top of the tapers, closing them, slide them down till stop, mark that spot with a sharpie, open them, and move down about 1/3 to 1/2 an inch -- the clamps are zinc and WILL break if too much force is used.

I'll keep it .. looks nice, small, 18" wind screen / shield and comes off easy, even with the mount for the OEM one still on the bike ..
