Welcome to the forum, MrHernandez.  My 800 is a 2002 also.  Original color is black, as has been said.   Someone mentioned pictures?!?!?!    Top 3 mods for the 800:
sprockets
grampsize (air intake/carb)
front progressive springs

No Worries

Welcome to the forum, MrHernandez81!  Great story about your Mom.   Sounds like she was a real trooper.   8)  My Mom was cut from the same cloth.

Welcome aboard!
And me too, I've got a 800. She's from 1999, when I bought her in july falling in love with her beautiful design and smoothness of riding...
And yes. Did someone mention PICS? ;)

I love my swingin' bike!

Jason the 02 Drifter 800 only came in Pearl Black. It might seem green due to the light or Mom had it painted.

Brakes are an easy job, but might want to look at the brake fluid. You might want to let us know what you have done maintenance wise if you want help with that or at least let us know what you are wanting to do yourself........

No mods have been done to the bike at all, it's stock besides the windshield. I'll get a few pics after I clean her up which may be a few days. Front and rear brakes are in order as they're starting to squeal. Is it just me or does the '02 paint look to be a deep green color? Says it's black?

Great story!  Welcome to the sight.

We are all crazy Drifter riders.  Mine is a '99'er I bought from a brother of the original owner who also passed away.  Similar story as the guy bought the bile new and fortunately for me ordered it with virtually every factory option available.  His brother told me how the owner and wife used to ride everywhere on the bike right up until the brother's wife passed away then he stopped riding altogether and stored the bike.  He then passed away a year later and the bike came up for sale.

The bike was in Muskegon, Mich. I live near Milwaukee, Wi. I had my nephew check to see the bike was real.  It checked out.  I hopped the Lake Michigan Ferry, road across the lake, picked up the bike, and ferried it back. Been riding the back roads here in Harley country ever since.

Good luck with "Mom's" bike. It is not every bike that becomes a legacy.

Welcome MrHernandez81, you will now be hounded mercilessly by the picture hounds, some of these people can not breath correctly unless you post a few pictures of your bike so they can drool and make comments on it. So best be getting a few pictures up here, and what questions would you like to have answered?
Have you or did mom do the sprocket swap on the bike, that would be number one mod.........

Hi, my name is Jason and I'm from Jackson TN. I have a '02 800 Drifter, have owned it since '12. My mother bought the bike brand new and uncrated it herself. After uncrating she sat on it and was told by an employee walking through, "I don't think you should be sitting on that" as to which she replied "@#$% you, this is my bike motherfucker" as he turned red and scurried off. Mom was a biker since the early 80's when she could finally afford a bike, she rode with Freedom m.c. out of GA. I still own her first bike, a 71 Triumph TR6C which she almost shot a man for sitting on (drunken aim saved him), wish I had the Harley powered chopper she built with the king/queen seat, tall sissy bar and diamond tank but times were tough and she was forced to sell. But sadly she passed away in '12 due to brain cancer just as life was getting good, she was 53. She left her Drifter to me also, only the 2nd vehicle she'd bought new. She always wanted an Indian but fell in love with the drifter for obvious reasons. I ride this bike daily and intend to pass it down to one of my 3 children so I figured I'd get more familiar with it than just riding it, get to know the in's n outs. What better place than on a forum with a bunch of Drifter nuts, right? Anyways, that's my story and thanks for having me.
Jason
