Ok due to medical issues with my leg and the temps down to the low 30's now, I am parking my bike and going to start my 2015 project list. Here is my list of proposed projects for the bike this winter.
1. Oil / filter change,
2. New tires front and rear, adding counter balance beads
3. New wheel bearings front and rear, All Ball Bearing kits,
4. New steering head bearings again All Ball Bearings,
5. Zerk fitting in the neck as per Troll and GB,
6. Swing arm bearings replaced,
7. Drilled rotor for the front from a Classic 800,
8. New Stainless Steel Brake lines in black of course, and a +2" extension on the front one,
9. Check and clean calipers as I have this all apart,
10. Switching the power point to a USB type,
11. Weld some tabs on the Front engine guard for new LED lights and my highway pegs,
12. Then take a bunch of parts for powder coating.
Pretty simple list and I have all the parts in the spare room right now so as soon as the bike is inside I will commence and start with the rear wheel and work forward. I will be making a record and taking pictures if anyone needs any help with these projets, and of course my tech support team is only an e mail away right Troll and GreenBarn. then my moral support he is also only a e mail call away ....49....49 were are you...... :o
You should be able to get all that done in 9 months...thanks in advance for the videos.

;) Well they are saying that the little Spanish kid is supposed to be nice to us this winter, but they said that a few years ago and it was a horrible winter.
I am going to start at the back of the bike and work my way to the front. Most of the work will be on the front end this winter. I want to see about the front rotor and the zerk fitting in the neck.

He's got longer then that. He's in Canada, so he has 11 months, 29 days, 16 hours, and 45 minutes until is 15 minutes of riding season is here. Then it's back to the living room and do it all over again!
And I so enjoy working on my bike and getting to do things myself. Perhaps I might need to buy another bike to tinker on....

Why the need for new bearings?
I am guessing they are the original ones so they are 16 years old, and I am going to have the tires off to be replaced so might as well do them and the cost is not to bad. So doing the wheel bearings might as well do the rest.
Also had a bit of a squirrel in the bike near the end of my trip this summer, and it was either the tires or the bearings, so will make sure it is gone.
Oh, NO! Your bike came down with Chirpies? That's a canarial disease, and if left untweeted, it can lead to more funny noises!
Always thought that motorcycle wheel bearings, if properly lubed (granted they may not be properly lubed from the factory), should be good for the life of the bike. Frequent washing can tend to dry out the steering and swing arm bearing as they're not sealed (I don't think the swing arm bearing are sealed, are they?).
The wheel bearings are grease packed and sealed for life. I have 103,000 miles on mine, right now. The swing arm bearings are a different matter. On a 1500, they are needle roller bearings in the frame, on the 800, they are needle roller bearings located in the swing arm, itself.
Well I have greased them each winter, but I had something that was not right, and so not knowing what has been done in the last 12 years to the bearings or what they have been through, for the price factor and peace of mind for new bearings it is well worth the time and effort.
So due to the local Kawasaki Dealer policy changes and his attitude towards customers, I have decided to take my wheels to Sudbury to be mounted,so I have a 2 hour drive one way, wait then drive home, so will get some shopping in the big city done, make it a full day trip. So anyway....my list:
1. Oil / filter change, DONE
2. New tires front and rear, adding counter balance beads, Almost, beads are done,
3. New wheel bearings front and rear, All Ball Bearing kits, on order in Sudbury
4. New steering head bearings again All Ball Bearings, on order in Sudbury
5. Zerk fitting in the neck as per Troll and GB, bought here waiting till front end is off
6. Swing arm bearings replaced, DONE
7. Drilled rotor for the front from a Classic 800, DONE
8. New Stainless Steel Brake lines in black of course, and a +2" extension on the front one, HERE will be done as wheels installed
9. Check and clean calipers as I have this all apart, WAITING PARTS
10. Switching the power point to a USB type, HERE
11. Weld some tabs on the Front engine guard for new LED lights and my highway pegs,
12. Then take a bunch of parts for powder coating.
13. Replace wind screen DONE
So we are moving forward and all is well......
Are you going to make a video of the steering neck bearings and zerk install? Prob need to do that to my bike also.
If I could figure out how and how to post I would but I can take pictures......that I know how to do....lol...

Pilgrim: There is a step by step on the zerk install that dates to 2013 that I used to do mine. Really just pick a spot in the middle of the neck, use the correct size drill bit, then tap the hole for the zerk, then pump with grease until it comes out both ends. The 1500s have a cover to remove to access the steering neck that the 800s don't have.

I have plans for the rest of the winter. GB is explaining how he can get me to IN and I can come and spend the winter visiting you and living the life style of a IN resident, and just sit around and watch TV and you can look after me.
Or I can stay here and make all the vids that Troll has post into one long tape and then get a couple of industrial fans and then I can watch the vids and have the fans on full to give the impression of riding......and just watch all the tapes.....
Or I can go and live in 0hi0 and hang out with GB at home and the shop to kill the winter........I could even help out at the shop and .............

Well Spring is only 14 days away and I still have about 5 ft of snow in the front lawn to get melted. The bike is almost ready for the spring now. My slits is almost done......

my dear tj have you been taking lessons from PC who is a Canadian disliker..........today I am waiting the delivery of my sun room for the back of the house, the sun is shining, the snow is melting it has dropped at least 2" off the front lawn we are down to about 4.5 ft in the front were I don't blow it.

I am re doing my gallery section of mods this week and will have pictures of all the bods done there. ???
Ok my mods are all listed in the gallery except for one which I will keep as a surprise till we are out for a ride together....

lol...I just know that there's alot more snow around the cottage (Restoule) than at home.
8) you mean down south in Restoule they have a lot of snow.......well up North here we have more snow and proud of it...lol.....but we will be moving shortly to our tepee's and watching the igloo melt.

First off, I can't pick which of the thousands of jokes to use about a man getting a sun room in a place where sunshine so so sparse. Kinda like having a hot tub delivered to hell, isn't it?
Second, 4 1/2 feet of snow still on the ground?!!!! If you piled up all we had all winter it wouldn't come to half of that! I haven't seen white stuff on the ground for weeks! Today it's 70F, and the house windows are open and I'm riding!
Third, I might have mentioned it before, but, YOU NEED TO MOVE SOUTH MY MAN!
Passive solar power is so cheap and it will heat the house all winter long. Because we have snow does not mean we do not get sunshine..........
