Well, I've got this little project started here, and need a little help.
So here's the thing. All I was trying to do was put on a new rear brake pedal, and got myself into a mess.
I started taking of parts here and there to get to the brake pedal. Took off some parts in the front, then some stuff in the rear. I finally got the brake pedal finished (looks pretty good, I think). So here's my problem: Can somebody tell me how all these parts go back on?? It's stripped down to the frame front and rear.... Guess I've still got some work to do on this small project....
;) Well see I know I am not as smart as you'll, so my military training takes over and as I remove things I lay them out left to right and then reassemble them right to left, not a big deal. But I'll take pictures in the morning of mine as it is and you can follow along with it.....lol.....
Like the manuals say:
Reassemble in reverse order.
(Big help, eh?)

New Idea.....
PM Troll.....have him depart early from his place in WI to Drift In and he said he wants to go early so make it worth his time to go early ride the Dragon, come to your place in OH and reassemble YOUR ride for YOU, and then you can pair up for the ride to Drift In.........see a really simple solution.......offer to pay for his fuel/meals and motels and I am sure he will come and help YOU.........
I changed my travel plans. Sounds like Tuesday is going to be a big deal at Drift-In, so I'm going directly to Pikeville, planning to get there in the morning. I'll do the Dragon on the way home...Sooooo.. just ride the 1500....It's not that I don't want to help, but the schedule doesn't seem to allow it....

Well FYI, many years ago, you would have been in short pants back then a friend of mine did some major mods to his bike, and he swapped out some parts for after market. Well he was ready to ride and he thought the bike was back together correctly. But much to his chagrin on his bench was a pile of parts, he was completely confused as to how he could have so many parts left over, in a panic he called myself and another buddy to come and help him. Ok so the deal was a lot of the after market and custom parts came with their own nuts and bolts, screws.....and he never took the old ones and put them with the correct part......so perhaps, Troll will have to go through what you have on the bench, and if Troll is to busy then ask DC to come with his tribe of wives and they can all help you.......
When you run out of parts to put back, then you are done...that's how I figure it out, anyway.....If I have anything extra, I will hunt down where it goes until I find it a home...

I thought you were going to say you had "helped him out" by adding to his parts pile every day until the project was done, then he had this big pile of parts.... Sounds like something you would pull, Ratman... ::)

Yep, I'm going to list it again. I took a couple more rides & the magic appears to be gone, for now at least. I still think I going to mess with an old VW beetle next.
Yea, decided on a re-do. Keeps me busy in my spare time....
So if you get real bored, needing something to do, and decide you want to work on a '66 Ford truck project..... I can't seem to get time for mine :( Maybe once this 800 is done, and a few more things on the 1500...
SO I have a little progress to report. Parts are coming in, and I'm getting some stuff put on.
Got my wheels powder coated black, with an ivory stripe. Michelin commanders.
Some stock black parts from a 2000 for the fork covers.... and some more yet to go on.
One of Ted's Drifter shifter's ready to bolt on.
Oh, and the tins are done at the painter.... Waiting for some pin striping.
And, no, that isn't my Grand National.....
ok I want so much to help you so I'll take that drifter shifter off your hands and we can mount it on my bike before we head to Drift In.
I do really like the colour of the tins.......awesome....

Well, I decided on just a plain-jane single black stripe. PC, I wanted to take your advice, but my pinstriper is near 70 years old (he doesn't look it), and said he didn't really trust his eyes and steadiness of his hand to do double stripes any more. SO, we ended up with a single black stripe, and I'm happy with it. We'll see how it looks when it goes back together....
This has been going really slow- it's killing me.... I had an eye injury of unknown origin a couple of weeks ago, ended up with a corneal ulcer, which believe me is small but hurts like hot coals in your eye... Besides everything ELSE that has to break, need fixed, trees to cut down, grass to mow, and everything ELSE.... very little time to get on it.
But with a little here, a little there.... there is at least a little progress....
I love that color... I've been thinking about doing a repaint on the 1500, but as much as I like the orange, I'm afraid it would come out looking like a big cremesickle...I did my Hotrod in GM Sunburst orange about 10 years ago...and my FLT in 2003...slightly different GM orange....

I think that, that simple single line just makes the colours pop and bam right at you, sometimes less is best. I can not wait to see it in person....

I think that when you get it all together, we need pics in some good sunlight. That thing is going to be something just glistening in the sun!
I'm not sure we're going to get any more bright sunlight this year... I thing that was a couple weeks ago, and it's done....

Yes, planning on it.... Of course, I was planning to have it done end of May, but that isn't working out so well...:) But I sure HOPE I can get it done by drift in.... At least I've started going back together now.
progress is slow, isn't it? at least here it is...too many home projects, and not enough time... Anyway, I got my tail light bracket finally painted and put together... Reminds me of something we've worked on at the shop....
Got the parts I've been waiting for back from the powder coater as well. They did my risers in a "gunmetal gray"... not sure I'm crazy about it. Then there's the one-off light bar, which I think turned out OK.
Now I've just got to get some parts bolted on. Etc.
Come on already GB we want to see this thing back in one piece .... ;D .... hahaha .... Man I must admit you really surprised me with the color choice , but I love it ! Great choice on the taillight assembly as well , Looks fantastic . Ok enough teasing , now get to work so we can see the finished project . Here are a few more parts I got together. Now, I realize that first one doesn't look much like a motorcycle part, but I have a plan for him and 3 of his buddies.
The brass thingy was sold to me as a 1928 Model A radiator cap. Seeing as how I do not own a 1928 Model A, I will have to find some other use for it....

DC let the jucies flow and think outside the box, if I can think of places on a 800 for these, jut think of the ideas for a 1500 .......some really good ones......
