Here's one for you, I believe we all have a special talent..
Mine is the ability to snore loudly, I have slept on board a ship next to the engines and drowned out their noise, one time I went across to Holland on the overnight ferry, As it was a last minute booking I could not get a cabin so along with about 200 people I went to the TV room, I found a seat somewhere in the middle of the packed theatre and fell asleep surrounded by other passengers, I woke up about 3am and there was a space all around me like a bomb crater, everyone had moved away from me and were sleeping around the edges of the room..another time I was asleep in my third floor bedroom and my wife was leaning out of the window..a couple of people were passing in the street below and one said to the other "what is that noise, it sounds like someone snoring" the other replied "It can't be, it's too loud"..my wife called down "Oh yes it is, you should hear it from up here"..
So what is your talent..don't be shy, even if it is the silent but deadly fart that can scare werewolves..

up to about 4 years ago I would say it was not being bothered by the cold weather. I have worked ski hills, and spent a lot of time in the winter temps, 2 years at the Winter Warfare School, and most of my military time north of the PineTree line.
But since I was found to be diabetic my hands seem to get cold faster than a few years back....otherwise I am OK....
I have a uncanny ability to pissing off my wife and having no idea why... :o It's a gift really.
That's not really a special gift. ALL MEN have that gift! ;)

Haaa.....my wife stopped asking me that when I bought her a scale for her birthday years back.My wife thinks twice now before she ask me ladies related topics......in fact,I can't remember when she asked such questions
Another good answer to avoid is, "No darling, it actually helps to hide some of your fat."

I recently finally got my passenger to move out. It took a hell of a long time. I asked, I demanded, and in the end. I gave a notice to vacate. She did leave. I gave her the notice on Feb 13th. ;) I had had enough. I'm making big changes in my life. I've been supporting too many people for too long. I've got a few good years to burn up some tires on my bike. And I am truly looking fwd to it. Chilli is again riding solo. Hanging my 2-up on the wall for the rare ocassion my youngest daughter wants to go for a ride. I've cut my freeloading dropout of college daughter off. Maybe not having any spending money will motivate her to get a job. Probably the worst thing I ever did was start giving her the child support money when she turned 18 to help her through school. All it did was help her eat fast food and buy tons of crap she didn't need. My special talent is being a cold hearted bastard from what I hear.. but sometimes you just have to be:-)
Since I seemed to derail the thread there. I have a knack for identifying birds. Probably about 90 percent of the local birds by common name. I found a red tail hawk on the road years ago that someone had shot thru the head. Probably stalking their poultry. I was in awe at how big and beautiful it was. So I started watching them. Its seemed they started getting use to me and when I was out they would sometimes fly very close by to see what I was all about. Another winter I was holed up emptying vodka bottles at an alarming rate I picked up a suet cake feeder and started watching. I had a little grey bird with a pointed head like a cardinal. I pcied up a book and met my first tufted titmouse. That started the love of birds. After ,my grandfather died, my grandmother got depressed. I put up some feeders around her windows and gave her a field guide. It re helped bring her out as well as it helped me stop drinking so much that one winter long ago.
A friend of mine was what you might call a redneck poacher, he would shoot and eat almost anything, one day he was arrested for killing an Ospray which is on the protected list..Having been before the courts many times befor he knew how to behave in front of the judge..After hearing his defense the judge said "I am inclined to let you off with a warning as you say you only killed the bird because your family was on the verge of starvation and your baby daughter was suffering from malnutrition, but I have always wondered what an ospray would taste like, do you think you could describe the taste for me?"
The defendant replied "Yes your honour, the taste can best be described as a cross between a swan and a golden eagle."

In my family, it was the nieces and nephews. They were raised to be freeloaders and, for a while, were very successful at that. My brother dug himself into so much debt, he eventually had to claim bankruptcy and tear up the credit cards. Up to this point, the kids were really good at making my brother feel guilty about not giving them
everything the other kids at school had. Well, being poor and retired, he dug himself into a bottomless pit. Then there finally came a judgement day, and it all had to stop. After the bankruptcy, things drastically changed for his kids. They finally realized money was not free, or to be picked from a tree. One by one, they abandoned their sense of entitlement and realized if they wanted something, they had to go out and earn their own money to get it. Presently, they are all on the right track, struggling, but building their own lives. That's what life is about, taking responsibility for yourself. However, at this point, my brother is ruined financially. The plus side to all this though, is that his wife finally got a decent job with bennies and O/T. So they at least can crawl back out of the pit.
Everyone cut lose has seemed to hit the ground running. seems I was enabling the process and prolonging the inevitable. I appreciate the response.
Well, it's a tough call to make, CD, but at least it is done. Good on ya.

They are an amazing creature; we have had feeders up at all the different places we've lived. When our kids were little, I nailed a 1X8 to the window ledge; the wife would put scraps out for the camp robbers, (whiskey-jacks, they call them up her for some reason) our kids would watch them for hours; better than TV. Here we get a lot of Black capped chickadees, woodpeckers, Blue-jays, etc. There is a pair of Pileated Woodpeckers living out behind my shop in the woods, we put suet out for them. Hummingbirds by the handful in the summer. I sit real still on the porch, they come and feed right beside me. Doesn't get much better.
Great that you did that for grandma; good that they helped you through a tough time too; make sure to keep 'em full now, too.
