I'm always inspired by the bikes I see, be it Drifters or not.  So, Lets see that awesome ride of yours!  (It doesn't have to be a Drifter , but it won't hurt!)  Here's my ride.....

Nice ride Dan!  Looks like one of Teds shifter's, but where'd you come up with the Indian head knob?

The knob is an Iriquois Beer Tap knob. Just had to put in the correct thread. Yes it is Ted's Shifter.

I have to admit I have never had an Iriquois Beer and I am not sure it is even still available. Someone here will know I am sure.
The front fender rail is an OEM Kawasaki front fender rail. The tip is an old Indian tip.

So lets see some more bikes!  Our bikes look so good, how could you not show off to an appreciative crowd like this?  And what about some of those other brands?  I know some of you have a Goldwing, or an HD, or bobber, or something else you ride.....lets see it!

Well ok, you asked for it. I have 2 bikes... Beauty and the Beast... here are pics of "the Beast"; I need to take current pics of "the Beauty" before I add those. These pics are also in another thread on this site. The "Beast" is an '02 Softail Classic with a Frankenstein trike kit.

Regards and such,

P.S. I'll get some pics of the "Beauty" tomorrow (I hope)

Everybody needs at least 2 bikes, maybe three, or more. (trying to convince my wife)...I'd like a KLR 650 to add to the "collection", or maybe a new Royal Enfield, so I have something to work on constantly...in that respect, I miss my H-Ds...Anyway, here's a glamour shot of my other bike, a lightly cafe' converted W-650. I took this one last Sunday, when I was doing a Fall color ride...

Sweet looking ride Troll.  Here are a couple shots of mine.  The "Bird" is gone but I still have the 750 Tiger....and yes it needs tinkering ow and then.  It's a fun bike to toss around on the back roads but the most fun is to hop on it in a crowd and watch their reaction when it pops off on the first kick. If you haven't grown up on kicker bikes, it's like magic.

;) And some of us can dress the part, http://www.gentlemansemporium.com (http://www.gentlemansemporium.com) has some classy clothing for riding...lol

Canvas Trench coat , I had leg straps added to keep it from flapping around. The goggles do add a touch of class to....need to show off the gauntlets because they are cool.
Title: Re: Lets see some bikes! (WARNING...Photo heavy!)
Post by: Troll on October 04, 2012, 10:12:44 AM
The W has a button, but I almost never use it. The first bike I ever owned with an electric starter was my '68 E-Glide...Sometimes I use my hand to start the W...that surprises quite a few people....The new W-800 Kaw is selling in Europe has injection, but no kick start...owners there have been putting the kicker parts from the W-650 in them, since the cases are the same! I owned a '65 BSA Thunderbolt....sometimes tinkering can really get in the way...

Hey, you've got one of those chrome Harley toolboxes too!  I see you mounted yours to the passenger footpeg mount.  I hadn't sen that spot before, but it looks good!  I mounted mine where the rectifier used to be.  Great looking ride though!
Title: Re: Lets see some bikes! (WARNING...Photo heavy!)
Post by: 49Reo on October 05, 2012, 17:18:25 PM
Thanks, PCarrell; it actually mounts to the V&H rear muffler mounting holes; since I ran the rear pipe over to the left side, it left the mounting holes in the bracket available. But the muffler mount does bolt to the rear peg mount, so yes, you are  correct, in a roundabout way. The tool box is an (old) original, had no key, so took a drawing of a buddies key, spent WAY too much time making one, then discovered that J&P cycle sells them for about $7 bucks for a pair. Laughs were on me for that one!!

This was my 1975 Yamaha XS650 project.  I say "was", because sadly I had to part with it when I needed some quick cash this last spring.  The guy that bought it said he was going to do a street tracker with it.  I originally planned to do a modern day version of an old board racer with it.

This is my "lower horsepower" ride that I use to try and work off dinner with......

;) it is a really comfy ride but hardest part is taking off from a stop because your feet are up and in front, takes about 5 trys to get comfortable doing it, second thing is that you can not stand up to peddle, if you are going up a hill you should be leaning forward and not lean back on the seat. Turning radius is really large if you are going slow, but thend it does turn on a dime when moving, and counter steering is awesome. Never tried to figure out my top speed but on hills it was really scary fast...lol...

My wife wanted one of those a few years back, after her knee surgery for therapy.  We ended up with a 3 wheeler instead, and I'm sure that was a better choice at the time.  Don't show her yours now though, or I'll be off to the bike store again!

I know what you mean!  I keep wanting to move towards a full dresser, but at the same time a stripped down Drifter chopper would be so cool!

YEa that Drifter chopper pic that was in that post you had was really suprising. I liked it alot. I just need a newer chromed out package to chop. I just really like the blacked out version on my 99 too much to change it much.  One of these days....

Cool thing is, they sell all the chopper parts in black too.  You could keep your blacked out bike blacked out, and chop the snot out of it at the same time!  Then paint it red, of course!  ;)

Saw a 1945 truck this weekend out for the final drive of the summer he said. It was not a local truck , I am sure he trailered it here for some reason, anyway, the paint job was awesome and were was my camera...at home. The guy told me it was from House of Colours, and called Burnt Orange, and he had used the same paint but in a flat or something like that for the ghost flames in it. He then said it had 5 coats of clear over top to get the shine into it, and a coupl of coats of wax. That was one awesome paint job to be sure.

;) ok pcarrell seeing as this is your thread I'll not feel like I am hijacking it. As I said before we are even on the bikes, and you have me on the SO issue. Seeing as I am tone deaf and my hearing is going due to my work enviroment playing guitar is not on my list of things to do. Mind I am working with a band part time as a driver and roadie, couple of guys from work ( another story), anyway my other big passion after my bike is a hooby I have been involved with since I was about 8 years old and have been doing since. But being in the military for over 40 years it is hard to maintain the quality of the hobby. So when I retired here I decided it was time I was never moving again other in a pine box. So I indulged into my hobby.

First pic is my 110 gal diamond Corner tank, with 5 Blood parrots, they are all about 6 years old now and huge.
Second is my 150 gal Burundi Frontosa tank the fish are from Lake Tanganyika in Africa, you can see the alpha male in the lower right side he is 14" long and over 1.5 lbs, and he likes to breed.....

so that is my other hobby.....

Here are a couple of pictures of my 2001, 1500 before I had to lay her down two weeks ago. I had a cager cut me off and try to do a right hand turn from the left lane while I was in the right side lane about 15 feet behind him. For about a second or so I thought I was going to t-bone him at 30mph. But as I hit the brakes my ass end slide out from under me and the bike started to slide on it's right side. The tires caught on a large crack in the asphalt and high sided me and threw me off the  left side of the bike. The lady at the gas pump that witnessed the whole thing side I missed the rear of the cage by about two feet. She said as soon as I went airborne, I curled up in a ball. (thank god for 10 years of jumping out of airplanes when I was in the Army) Did one complete flip in the air and landed on my right shoulder. (Shattering my shoulder) Then I finished with two more asphalt rolls covering about twenty feet, rolled up onto my feet and walked back and started checking out my bike. Once all the adrenaline was gone I sat down by a light pole and asked her to call 911 cause me right arm was killing me.
The front highway/road guard and the apes saved my bike. They absorbed all the damage other then scratching the chrome on my floorboards, passenger pegs and muffler.
I know for a fact I will never own a bike in the future that doesn't have highway/road guard on it. It saved my bike from being totaled.

I ride with a group called the Desert Dawgs. We are about 40 strong with every bike above 600cc excepted to ride with us. The bike has already been stripped down and just waiting for J&P Cycles to deliver all the new parts.  It should be rid-able within two weeks, to bad the bone Doc said it will be six to twelve months before I'll be able to ride.

My current stable-

My '02 Drifter, known affectionately as "The Pig".  I bought her from my boss in May of '11 with 5600 miles on her, and proceeded to ride the crap out of her, lol! My wife and I have put many miles on her going to the gulf coast to visit family and she's got just over 28k on her now ;D
(https://www.vulcandrifterriders.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi19.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fb162%2Frokfrog%2FDrifter%2F100_2355800x600.jpg&hash=674137a8d2661cdac92f2add72a1ddd97adc8ee3)

My little hot-rod, an '06 HD XL1200C that I picked in Dec. of '09 with 5500 miles all stock and every winter I'll mod her some more, just over 24k on her now
(https://www.vulcandrifterriders.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi19.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fb162%2Frokfrog%2Fsporty%2F100_2331800x600.jpg&hash=c079adc5a6dc89c410f871b03d8df14a130ee505)

This is another fun one I picked up this past Feb. a '76 XLH 1000, I've done a couple cosmetic things so far(bars and seat)but she'll be getting chopped ;D

I'm working, slowly, towards the euro-chopper....just added a new tail light from a '29 model A....polished stainless, with the lower section as a tail light, and the upper as the brake light. The top says "stop" in amber lettering. I was going to use the Vincent style light (miller) , until I found out it's too small to be legal.

Out for a final ride yesterday,  stopped by a favorite spot for a burger. Prob 60 bikes while we were there. With more coming and going. It was good to see everyone out. Saw several large groups of riders. Got about 325 mi in Sat and Sun. Was good to be able to knock around the hills for while. I of course was the only Drifter, there were some various other metrics but mosly HD's some pretty nice, one little Honda rebel bobber that was kind of cool. And a nice Triumph tiger. A BMW rat bike that my friend Red dog rode in. He has an old knuckle I always love seeing. I probably should of took some closeups, but it was nice to see everyone out. Jimbos bar and grill if you are ever in the Hocking Hills area of southern Ohio.

I went to my sister's 5 hours south of here and came home Sunday and saw a lot of bikes out for their last ride......one group of about 10 crotch rockets that pasted me and I had to ensure I was in foward gear........30 kms down the highway they wer all pulled over and OPP (like your State Troopers) were having fun looking at papers and tags and such......

Well, you can give it a shot, but tell them Buffalo Man. Years ago..I showed up for an annual camp out with my buffalo hide strapped to my bike to sleep on and it stuck as my nickname. The food is fresh ground sirloin burgers, 1/2 pounders butter toasted buns and fresh cut fries. Heck you make it down her and I'll gladly buy you both dinner.
Ya know, down here they just don't pull bikes over. I'm not sure why, but I can't remember ever seeing a bike pulled over in Ohio.

Thanks pcarrell & 49Reo,  I'd like to share some of the Mods and solutions I've had in making "Evelyn" who she is... Is there a place on the site to post these? I'll have to take some new photos of the Caddy Tail Light solution to keep them from sagging. My ignition relocation was slightly different from JoBear's and a few others I've seen in that I didn't want the screws showing on the top of the dash plate. While I have you Veteran members here, Is there a way to add a pic of my bike to my avatar or am I only able to use the ones listed? Thanks for letting me bend you ears (actually bend your eyeballs)

DC, Just posted pics in the Mods and Tips, When I added the Caddy Tail Lights I pulled the turn wires and tapped into the brake and run for the Caddy Lights, I bought beehive running lights from NAPA and changed them from single to dual element sockets so they are turn and run then mounted them to the reflector brackets on the license plate, There was enough room behind the tail light to tuck everything in. My whole purpose was to get more light at the tail end, Rather than just a run and brake in the rear I now have five running lights, Three brake lights and the turn signals, I once had an Art Instructor who told me, "Form Follows Function" I have my own saying, "Luck is the residue of Design" lol
