Like I've said before, and I'll likely say again, 'NEVER PUT YOUR FINGER WHERE YOU WOULDN'T PUT YOUR WEENIE, AND YOU'LL NEVER HAVE A SORE FINGER'.....

Seriously, hope it heals well with no infection.

 8)  Well I noticed a couple of things common here in your story Mr. DC, seems there is three very common factors, so perhaps if you just eliminate one of the factors then you should be safe and no more injuries.
you need to eliminate one of the following....
sharp implements of destruction,
alcohol,
Mr Dc himself.........

so pick one item to eliminate.

I'd like to see a story like this once in a while, but I'd hate to see you keep having to cut off extremities to do so!! :o

Get healed up soon, so you don't miss all the fall riding...

I like jotting down my thoughts and observations on life every once in a while.  Let's hope the next time I do it doesn't involved pain, blood, and personal injury.   :o

I already missed two really good rides from this injury.  Last Sunday while at ther ER, I missed a fallen officer charity ride.  Today I missed The Distinguished Gentlemens Ride.  Royally disappointed!   >:(    I guess for safety sake, I just have to wait.   ::)

DC, my main man!  Welcome to the bandage club!  Between you and me, we've got half the extremities covered!  You've got what appears to be a left hand all bandaged up, and I've got a bandaged left leg.

Shoot, you might say that between us, we're "all right"!  (Sorry.....bad pun)

Yes, we both have some healing to do.  Being left handed, it's been a challenge learning how to do everything right handed, and also doing things with one hand that normally take two.  I learned tonight that it takes two hands to clap.   :o   ::)   By the time I get this right hand thing down, the left should be coming back online.  Hopefully, you'll be on the mend soon too, my friend.

DC to protect yourself perhaps you should be come a regular with a local take out place and or the Swanson Family and get a life time deal on TV dinners. This way you get to keep all your digits and your blood inside yourself.

Suggest you take a First Aid course.

You did almost everything wrong.

When you get cut - elevate. Do not hold limb down.
Do not increase heart rate by hoping up and down.
Alcohol thins the blood, increasing bleeding, not to mention clouds thinking.

Maybe a kitchen course too on how to cut vegetables without severely cutting yourself.  Oh by the way, we are not accepting any applications at my food truck. We have all the prep cooks and people we need right now and for the rest of the season  ;)

'Hope you heal well and heal quickly!

I had a similar event happen about 20 years ago.  I was having some drinks whilst preparing food.  Again, chopping away, and . . . .  That time I didn't go to the hospital.  Being much younger and full of myself, I decided to give myself stitches.   But, in order to do that, I had to drink some more to handle the pain.  In the end, I did close it up.  Not pretty, but I got the job done.  That was easier to deal with, as there wasn't much blood, just a longer open wound.

This wound was more complicated, as it went through the nail and nail bed.  So I decided to defer to a pizza delivery guy that certainly knows more about medical procedures than I do.   ;)

To your point, yes I should have held it up to slow the bleeding, but I was not thinking and I had to quickly apply direct pressure as it was going squirt. . squirt. . squirt.

The hopping helped me to deal with the pain.  Darn, I wished I would have made a vid of that.  Note to self:  Add more interior cameras to the video surveillance system.

Yes, maybe alcohol was not the best choice from a coagulation perspective, but it did help me to deal with the pain.

I decided I'm going to go in the full automation direction from now on, when it comes to chopping, slicing, and dicing.  What could possibly go wrong?    ???   ::)
