Went to the Monthly ABATE meeting and then for a ride...about 100 miles. Some proof pictures! I found a boat landing that was deserted, so I rolled down there and took a couple...The Black River is pretty high, and is likely to remain so for a while. The got 12" of wet snow north of here, and we got 1 3/4" rain. 62 degrees today!!!!
Yes you be careful and watch for the other road users and be safe, enjoy your ride and have fun.
I'll try and remember that while I'm out today......Thanks!
Just be careful at your age you do not need to catch a cold this time of year. You might consider full gloves at your age in case you fall and slid along the road, you don't heal as fast as you once did. Take care of yourself so you can enjoy all the riding you can get now.
Yeah, it's pretty tough around here too. I had to leave my coat halfway zipped up as I rode all afternoon. Fortunately I was able to be pretty comfortable with my fingerless gloves.
Snow last night, right after the thunderstorms....but the sun came out..for about a minute, and we had more rain. The show melted, but now it's going below freezing over night..But tomorrow is SUPPOSED to be 63....I'll wait and see.
Day three of rain today, and it is getting cold again. Temps are going to stay in the 30's the rest of the week and into next week. I have written a letter to the Town Council about my issues with the city, and this happens every spring, I get this nice large lake in front of my house. So I have asked the city to raise my land taxes to the same as the people along the lake. If they do not want to do this for me then to allow me a permit to allow a marina on my lake so people can use my lake to fish and camp around.
I am seeing the snow melt and the green stuff showing up so soon the path will be clear and the bike will move from the house to the shed and the season will be here. Well ok have a good day......
I do not plan on quitting any time soon, but who knows what will happen, I just might out last a lot of you young whippersnappers...........
Isn't it about time for you to buy a Can Am Spyder or something like that??
Seriously though, at Drift In last year there were two old guys (a little older than Troll) rooming near us. They were not there for Drift In, just in the area. One of them on a Gold Wing trike, the other one on a Spyder. They seemed to both enjoy them. They were passing through going somewhere....
THEN, there was this other old guy (a lot older than Troll), I'm thinking he was in his 70s. He was riding with his son, who had, if I remember, a HD, with tons of chrome. They were not with Drift In either, but spend several days there. Every time when the two of them would go out for a ride, the old guy would put his half helmet on without fastening the strap. Someone would say "Hey, your helmet isn't strapped", and he's say "I know it isn't strapped, I never strap it". Son confirmed this- I heard this at least 4 times - "He never straps on his helmet, I don't know how he keeps it on". SO ANYWAYS, the old guy rode a great big red (I believe) v-6 cruiser, I think it was a Valkyrie, with loud 6-banger pipes - that is true duals X 3 on each side. Every time (and I mean every single time) they would go out for a ride, the old guy would get on his Valky, start it up, and just rev the daylights out of it..... Vroom... Vrooom.. Vrooom Vrooom ..... For as long as it took him to get it backed out of the parking spot. It sounded kind of like a drag car at the racetrack warming up getting ready to take off... Made me laugh every time.
So see, Ratman, you've got a lot to look forward to.
ah but soon we will be riding, and if funds hold out then the Ride to Drift In and then late fall a ride to PEI are in the plans along with 2 Ride For Dad events (Kingston and North Bay|), the Biker Reunion (New Liskeard), and Ride for the Cure (North Bay).
Now that I am officially old and retired I wan to do a loop ride for Drift In. but time will tell.
Quote from: CDNRatMan on March 30, 2015, 14:08:08 PMThat weather is just wrong in every way.0330 this morning woke up to the wind howling, house creaking, and my arthritis was easing up so the storm had arrived or moved out of range, so go up to look out side and wish I had just stayed in bed......
You have me beat if I don't count the rides to the shop this winter (new tires) which I'm not counting. Right now I'm at roughly 250. Long ways to my 10,000 mile goal (I decided to make it a lofty goal this year). I do have an approximately 3600 mile ride this summer, so that will help a lot towards getting to that goal.
Well, it got warm enough to actually wear some lighter gloves, today. I have 300 miles on so far this year, and I haven't gone anywhere. My riding goal for 2015: I've been doing some calculations, and I need to put on 60 miles every day (minimum) from tomorrow to July 19th when I leave for Drift-In so I turn over 100,000 miles when I get there....I do believe it's do-able...That 60 would be discounting any longer rides, like, say my usual 400+ rode on Memorial Day, or a 350 down to Madison for our ABATE Lobby Day, or the 300 or so to go to the National Motorcycle Museum again...I already have a plan if I get too close to my goal too quickly. It's 829 miles from here to Pikeville, so that means I have to have no more than 99171 on the bike when I leave...So I'll just ride the W....it's only got 25,000 on it...it's still like new! Of course, when I get back home, I'll still need to put on another 2700 for my 10,000 a year...
I am just saying here in the deep south it going to be a great weekend for the first ride of my life. It going to be 75 and no wind. I am so ready I swear i can taste the bugs already.
Got up to 55, but no sun. Oh well, I got to ride looking for something for my wife I couldn't find...about 50 miles!
