Not to go too far afield... I come from an LEO family, did some of that work myself. My Dad was a Chief of Police, after I left for the Navy. Most cops do a good job, but there are some who don't. I've run into my share of both kinds.  When you deal with the worst of society everyday of your working life, you can easily get into a mindset where you think everyone is the same. That can lead to abuses. The real danger is when cops stop thinking of themselves as part of the community. Once we did away with "beat" cops, we started losing that sense of community. The US vs THEM mentality sets in... on both sides.

Honestly, knowing what I know about police forces of the 60's and 70's, I'd say they have gotten much, much, better as a whole over the years. Now that we have 24/7 news cycles we here all the dirt, all the time. Good news is rarely considered "news".
During Katrina the NG was actually confiscating firearms from people in and around NO. They thought they were doing the right thing... their officers and NO officials should have known better.
Such abuses and failures are still the exception rather than the rule. We don't want to fail into the trap of stereotyping everyone based upon the few.

I believe the announcer called is a "stunning abuse of power"....    Sounds like this abuse of power is on the rise these days.  Is bad law enforcement on the rise these days, or do we just hear more about it because of increased social media?   Seems to me it's on the rise everywhere.

This is a long (43 minute) video, but definitely worth watching. This took place in 2013 during the floods.

After watching this what country and what group did it remind you of?   :'(
