- April 02, 2010, 08:33:46 AMOk, so we all know the mess my bike was when I got it, its got the new motor now, and is my dream in a bike......but its now doing something I did not notice before, because I was just so happy to have her back. The guy I got it from trashed it, its horrible, and one of the things he did was bust out the baffles in the pipes. so here is what its doing, it has a hesitation at the top end of all the gears, like its running out of gas kind of. but then I shift up to the next gear and its fine. I have always been told its better to run a bike at the top end of the gears, than to always be chugging away in the lower end of the next gear up. oh and for the most part its an 03 800. The motor is from an older year, late 90's but the pipes are stock. Is this because the pipes are "modified" like they are, or perhaps a performance jet kit would fix it? Oppinions? I ask my wizzard/mechanic, and he says "you really need new pipes and a jet kit", then he gets excited and goes on with all the things he wants to do haha but we have topped out the bike budget for a while.
