Thanks Troll,
I am already signed up for the SoCal riders course. Weekend of the 24th.
Hopefully have my license before July 4th.
Have insurance ready as well.

Thanks for the mileage advise, wasn't sure the life expectancy of these engines.
I plan on this being my learning bike and use it to go to work, plus a bit of cruising on the weekend.
I live on the PCH in Sunset Beach (near Huntington Beach CA) tons of good rides around here, and plenty of groups to ride with.

Anyone have a good place/site to find white wall tires for this bike. (what size?)

I just turned 55,000 on my '01 yesterday...runs beautifully....no oil consumption or leaks....Some of the people here have twice as much...As far as I'm concerned, 48000 is still like a new one. I had 200,000 om my FLT when I sold it...it was starting to need some stuff. The power train of this bike is more automotive than motorcycle like, and seems to be built to last. I have a friend with a Nomad who overhauled his at 135,000.   You say this will be your first bike.. I would be remiss if I didn't mention to you that you should take a riding course. Most states will grant you a class M endorsement without a road test if you pass the class, and that can save a lot of hassle. There are insurance discounts to be had with a Rider Course, too.

Recovering H-D owner...W-650 Cafe' No excuses...Ride it or sell it to someone who will!

Good Day all,
Brand new member here.
I have been wanting a bike for awhile,  (this will be my first bike) and just came across the Drifter. I fell in love as soon as I saw it.
Went and looked at one today, 2002, 1500 drifter. Needs tires, rear fender has a 3 long inch crack in it, with 48,000 mi.
They are asking 3500.00. The paint is great, lots of extra crome, great looking bike.
The higher milage worries me a little. The fender is cosmetic. I could probably search on here for a fix. (plan to in a minute)

I found a couple other bikes in the area, but most are 5-6K. So should I worry about the high miles? What do you experts think, good deal?

Thanks
