Yeah, an electric will NEVER be my only vehicle (bike or car), at this point. Refueling is a major problem. Who wants to search for a charging point and then wait to get enough power to get  to the next charger. Definitely not for anything other than short routine trips.

I read sometime ago a few police forces in the UK bought a bunch of electrics as patrol vehicles. They forgot these things need to be in service 24/7. Eventually they learned their lesson and now the vehicles are relegated to upper staff work.

Major advances in fuel cell/battery and charging tech is needed before electrics can compete with IC. We all don't live in LA or NYC.

I would consider an electric bike... for specific uses. I have been considering an electric vehicle for a while, now that we are no longer traveling extensively. The "fuel" savings aren't significant... since we really don't burn miles nowadays. I don't put much stock in the "environment" hype.

So, for me, it is all about performance, maintenance, comfort, and ease of use. Plus,  the "new tech" aspect that always interests me.

Electric vehicles are now the declared means of manufacturers to reach zero level of harmful emissions: some for convenience, some for real conviction.
However, what does not add up is the real impact on the environment of a totally electrified mobility system: I am referring to the fact that the overwhelming majority of global electricity production is still based on a system anchored to hydrocarbons and their derivatives, given the minority percentage of green production sources.
Certainly the way forward is the one already outlined, but without a concrete reduction in dependence on hydrocarbons the cost/benefit ratio of mass electrification will remain largely negative.
That said, I wouldn't mind riding an electric motorcycle, especially if it's not too expensive and with a pretty good design, like the one in the article.
But I still prefer to ride my Drifter!
