Thanks for the replies Chief and Lucky!
I did see that link and went through it.
What I have done thus far is disassembled the cap, didn't see anything there but poked the holes for good measure but didn't seem like anything was in there. Labyrinth was clean and everything seemed in good order. There are 2 vacuum lines on the bottom right of the tank. Blew into them both with my mouth...yum! The one that goes to the rear nipple blew out some liquid through the o-ringed port the cap nipple rests in when closed-water or gas idk. The one that leads to the front nipple I couldn't blow through.
The front one seems to lead to the hole next to the o-ringed cap vent port, to the right a little, and that's the port that the gas was coming out of. Top of the tank but under the cap. Should I be able to blow through both? Seems like there would be more purpose to this hole than to run a metal straw through the tank and hook a hose to dangle under the bike. I'm just not sure how it's constructed inside the tank.
If it means anything the tank was about half full when this happened.
As to the bogging down, it's happened to me on both my drifters, normally going at 65+ mph. I've read about it happening to a lot of us. Generally I fill the tank not quite to the neck on it's side stand. It hasn't happened recently but I have experienced it.
Maybe blowing the liquid out of the one line will do the trick but really curious if I should be able to blow through both. Thinking the other might be clogged since the gas went to the top of the tank but would really like to not have a huge puddle of gas under the bike either. [emoji33]

is it leaking through the port on the bottom right side? there's supposed to be a "vac line on that, running back and then through the right side side panel and down to the ground. If it's leaking, it's over pressured - are you also bogging at highway speed? clean the vent port in the gas cap area - should be fine.

Had a great ride yesterday and when I got home and parked gas started coming from under the cap and running down the tank. Opening the cap released pressure and it quit but closing it just let more pressure push it out. It was coming out of the hole that is just open, not the o ringed one where the cap vent system goes. I see a tube going from it to the bottom of the tank and leads to the front hose on the right side under the tank that runs to the rear and just hangs under the bike. Not sure that should even have access to fuel from the tank but I'm not clear what the purpose of it is.
Thinking cleaning the cap vent should relieve pressure on the tank but not sure pressure on the tank should even affect that line?
Could anyone tell me the purpose of it and whether pressure in the tank should affect it?
It's a 2005 vn800.
