Will a 1997 1500C fit a 2001 1500 Drifter?

I have to replace the engine in my 2001 Drifter inexpensively. I am financially embarrassed and also happen to be a tight wad. I love my bike and need to get it back
on the road. i am looking at used motors.  Thank you!!!
